My mentally ill life. A blog about a family coming to terms with mental illness (bipolar). Monday, August 13, 2012. DD has continued to struggle with her behaviors at the group home she is in. We did have to have a special meeting as she has been bullying the other residents, and when confronted with this, she became very angry, ran out of the house, and tried to jump into a moving car in the street :-(. Because at a group home you can't leave the clients unattended, not for any reason). And every time I showed up for work, I felt more strongly that it was time. So I put in my 2 weeks notice, this will be my last weekend of working 2 jobs. I'm really excited about having 2 days off every week! Wow what a relief, financially! November 23, 2013 at 10:57 AM.

I wrote this post awhile ago and I think that this is a good time to publish it. I've been reading a book, "The Places that Scare You," by Pema Chodron. While there is a lot of good stuff in the book, the key thing I'm learning is to stay with difficult feelings and not cower from them or medicate them away. The reality is that we just don't know how things will work out.

The current scary thing is that he is topping out on how much pain medication they can give him for his neuropathy. His tolerance is high after 15 years on narcotics and in any case, you only have so many receptors that the opiates can bind to and reduce the pain. So increasing the dose won't work anymore.
