The Twitching Sailor: The Circle Is Unbroken
http://thetwitchingsailor.blogspot.com/2014/12/the-circle-is-unbroken_10.html
The Circle Is Unbroken. Around the World in 4,748 Days. Woo-Hoo! This post is written by Gene because he got tired of waiting for me to post:. With no wind, we motored out of Acapulco Bay and, voila, the next afternoon motored into Zihuatanejo Bay. Gene counted down the exact moment we crossed our outbound path.1535 hours (that's 3:35pm to all of us not attuned to military timekeeping) on March 10, 2014. We had done it! We finished our circumnavigation! And Roy and Winona on Saucy Lady. And Peregrine bud...

The Twitching Sailor: Life Aboard in Barra
http://thetwitchingsailor.blogspot.com/2014/12/life-aboard-in-barra.html
Life Aboard in Barra. Today I take a Jalapeno baguette and a ham quiche tart. I take the tart because he doesn't have ham and cheese croissants today. The almond croissants are killer, but I am in the mood for something savory rather than sweet today. Plain, Almond and Chocolate Croissants and Cinnamon Raisin Rolls. Dessert. The Orange tart is wicked. Emerik has a delightful personality and it would be a pleasure to start the day with a conversation even if it didn't come with a reward.

The Twitching Sailor: 8/1/12 - 9/1/12
http://thetwitchingsailor.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Thought for the day. His poor buddy sat quietly by hoping for a treat. One of Dutch Dreamers crew got caught in the rain and took shelter on our plexiglass hatch which is protected by a cover. Gene scrubbed the green slime off the bimini yesterday and polished the stainless today. He has been working on our new sole panel for some time and I think it's nearly done. It will replace the rotting one that gives way when we step on it. He is also working on the hydraulics for the backstay. I had two people re...

The Twitching Sailor: Life is Slow and Warm in Hualtulco
http://thetwitchingsailor.blogspot.com/2014/02/february-22-2014-i-have-been-out.html
Life is Slow and Warm in Hualtulco. February 22, 2014. I could see this place turning into a Black Hole. By that I mean a place that pulls you in and holds you far beyond the time you had intended to stay. We've hit a few Black Holes on this little trip around the world. I could stay here for a few years if:. 1 We weren't only 350 nm away from finishing the circumnavigation. 2 The wifi signal consistently reached the boat. 3 The showers had hot water and were in an enclosed building. Behind the marina of...

Still Alive After Headliner Incident. July 19, 2012. HAPPY BIRTHDAY, RAVEN! Not much going on here and I'm in a homesick mood. Gene is at the grocery right now and I have water boiling for dishes. Ahh, life in a hole in the water in the tropics. Tales of Woe from The Leaky Sieve. We didn't have fireworks here on the Fourth of July, but I'm expecting some today. The moldy headliner and the offending compass base. The design of the compass and the bimini hook. The boat looks like hell. All the canvas i...

The Twitching Sailor: Another Day In Paradise
http://thetwitchingsailor.blogspot.com/2014/03/another-day-in-paradise.html
Another Day In Paradise. March 1, 2014. Gene sampling the Mescals. As we were sitting at an outdoor table in the shade of a ficus tree eating our tamales, Gene said, "Well, we could always sail back here after going to Zihuatenejo." Gene NEVER goes backward. Well, apparently, hardly ever. If I hadn't wanted a tamale so badly, I would have tried out this artist/chef's creations:. Steps to Juanitas's Café, a popular place to eat. Below: View of the square from Juanita's balcony. March 1, 2014 at 1:08 PM.

Try Colombia: November 2012
http://tricolombia.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
A blog about moving from the UK to Colombia and discovering its fantastic wildlife. Tuesday, 20 November 2012. I'm not the only one who has come to enjoy Colombia recently. As well as the many species of resident birds, their are quite a few migrants who come here in the Autumn (or should I say fall! After breeding in North America. There are many warblers in the trees and bushes around the city. From our balcony I now see Yellow Warblers. Yellow Warbler (Setophaga petechia). There are a few other larger...

Try Colombia: January 2013
http://tricolombia.blogspot.com/2013_01_01_archive.html
A blog about moving from the UK to Colombia and discovering its fantastic wildlife. Tuesday, 22 January 2013. From Nevado del Ruiz volcano we drove around through the city of Pereira to the nearby SFF Otún Quimbaya. Might not look spectacular but is an endangered species endemic to Colombia, with perhaps only around 1000 birds left. This is possibly the only area where it is doing well, and they are easy to see in the trees around the reserve. Much more common are the large Red-ruffed Fruitcrow. A close ...
