These are taken from my Great Grandmothers book she put together for my mother. The book was completed in 1968, but was written for a few decades. I always refer to this book as the Record Book. Old Method of Measuring. Pinch of salt = 1/4 teaspoon. Handful of flour =1/4 cup. Butter size of walnut = 1 tablespoon. 4 tablespoons = 1/4 cup. 6 tablespoons = 3/8 cup. 2 cups = 1 pint.

This is a vintage recipe, so have a great time feeling nostalgic as you make it! 3 cups sifted flour. 2 1/2 teaspoons double acting baking powder. 1/2 cup plus two tablespoons butter. 1 3/4 cup plus 2 tablespoons sugar. 2 large unbeaten eggs. 1 1/4 cups milk. 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract.

I honestly do not know where this plant came from, but I was happy it showed up. The pumpkins were ripe and ready to go, so I thought I would venture into the unkown world of making pumpkin pie from scratch. This is a scary thought for someone like me! Bits of the Rietz. Monday, July 20, 2015. 2 (of my many) problems solved! I'm sure you'll be surprised to hear this, my blog reading friend, but I have problems. Some big and important, some pretty small and stupid. Some which I just need to take by the horns and fix, and some are totally out of my control. My job on the last group is to fix my attitude to accept that I don't. Of course, and most likely will be doing that in some form the rest of her life. Is she debilitated by it? I'm grateful for her!
