I had the enormous privilege of photographing the Zimlicki family two weekends ago! This picture came near the end of the shoot and was a personal favorite of mine; I love how the sun came peeking through! Wednesday, February 27, 2013. A Year of Families. The most rewarding aspect of family photography is without a doubt the joy and wonderment I find myself enveloped within during and post-shoot. From the anxious excitement of an expecting mother gazing down at her protruding belly to the sparkling eyes and contagious giggle of a two year old chasing her brother, I am constantly transported into the remarkable world of a family. Babies, baskets, and bunnies! Learning to laugh and coo in the springtime.

Sunday, January 22, 2012. Airports provoke many feelings for me, ranging from highly emotional to neutrally detached. Simple trips with loved ones generally don't cause me to give an airport much regard; it is simply the pitstop on the way to a final, eagerly anticipated destination. Those are the detached days in the airport; the days that I don't regard it as a spot of extreme joy or sorrow. Counting down until it is my turn to have my soldier walk out the glass gate and into my arms! A Taste of Weiden.

Tuesday, January 31, 2012. After a few minutes, Katie placed her in my arms, making her the youngest child I've ever had the pleasure to hold. She hardly moved, just slept peacefully as I rocked her and talked to Katie about the birth. Katie was very trusting of me despite my novice with babies, and let me snap a few adorable pictures of her gorgeous daughter to put online for her husband to see along his travels back to Germany. As one of the last six-stool diners in the nation, the Cozy Inn was certainly that — cozy. Named the best burger joint by USA Today. Fantastic.
