Left of the Rising Sun: August 2011
http://leftoftherisingsun.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html
Left of the Rising Sun. My Life as an Alaskan Bush Teacher. Friday, August 5, 2011. It's amazing how two districts can be so different. So far, I am super impressed by NSBSD. They seem to generally have their act together. More than that though, they aren't so enamored with themselves that they forget to be normal people. That's about it, though. North Slope beats them in every other category. First off, let's just address the money issue. The pay with NSBSD is better, for both salary and added duties.

Owls Can Spell Tuesday: A New Car!
http://owlscanspelltuesday.blogspot.com/2011/05/new-car.html
Owls Can Spell Tuesday. And other life lessons along the way. Saturday, May 21, 2011. I bought a new car! Well, it's new to me anyway. It's a 2007 Pontiac G6 GT HardTop Convertible, and I absolutely love it. It looks BRAND NEW inside. Heated black leather seats/steering wheel, power windows/seats/locks, XM radio, all bucket seats, and a dozen other luxuries that make driving more pleasurable. Dad had some fun shopping around while I firmed things up with the salesman (who was a student at OC! Window #2 [...

http://leftoftherisingsun.blogspot.com/2009_10_01_archive.html
Left of the Rising Sun. My Life as an Alaskan Bush Teacher. Saturday, October 17, 2009. I took a sunset run along the beach towards Siberia, and it was absolutely gorgeous! Running along the Bering Sea facing Russia the whole time was one of the most surreal experiences yet. It's a rare thing, too, because of the usual cold weather. Here are a few pictures and even a video:. Friday, October 16, 2009. Have you ever been without water? Wednesday, October 14, 2009. Sunday, October 11, 2009. In the L48, most...

I've been trying to fix the layout of this blog, but for some reason I am fighting the system. It could have something to do with the slow slow slow internet. Regardless, I should follow through with my promise to blog more often! Finally, I'm 25 so I can rent an AWESOME car. Someday, I want one of those to keep. The North Slope was literall...

Owls Can Spell Tuesday. And other life lessons along the way. Saturday, August 21, 2010. If we are truthful, most teachers hope for the job in the nice school in the nice part of town with the nice kids that love to learn and be nice to each other. That job doesn't exist, but we go out searching for it anyway. In related news, I accepted a job. It comes down to being born in the wrong year and getting stuck with a broken economy. Owls Can Spell Tuesday: And the Oscar Goes To . . .
http://owlscanspelltuesday.blogspot.com/2011/03/and-oscar-goes-to.html
Owls Can Spell Tuesday. And other life lessons along the way. Tuesday, March 1, 2011. And the Oscar Goes To . . . I confess: I did not watch the Oscars this year. I don't think I've ever watched it, though, because I don't watch many movies and the awards for movies I've never seen just don't keep my attention. Anyway, the nice thing about the internet is that you can always find the best 5 minutes of an award show online without having to sit through 3 hours of nothingness. Posted by Megan Gunderson.
