David Gynn: Digital Photographic Practice - Assignment 4: Real or Fake
http://blog.davidgynn.com/2013/02/digital-photographic-practice.html
Welcome to my OCA BA Hons Photography Learning Blog. Monday, 18 February 2013. Digital Photographic Practice - Assignment 4: Real or Fake. This assignment covers an aspect of digital photography that I'm not altogether comfortable with - the potential for images to be deliberately misleading. I have no problem with the techniques involved, merely the motivation behind the use of the techniques - and therefore the morality of such practices. Here are my two initial images. I photographed the motorcycle de...

David Gynn: April 2013

Welcome to my OCA BA Hons Photography Learning Blog. Monday, 8 April 2013. Digital Photographic Practice (Part 5) Exercise: Sharpening for print. For this exercise exploring the topic of sharpening images for print I used a portrait photograph as suggested. I created four versions of the image for print, applying increasingly strong sharpening treatments with Photoshop's Unsharp Mask filter. This exercise would appear to demonstrate the need for taking the intended size of the print into account when sha...

David G. Simmons – Things I Find Interesting
Things I Find Interesting. How Do We Get to 20 Billion? Posted by David G. Simmons. During an interview today, I was asked the question So where do these numbers come from? How do we get to 20 billion IoT devices? How, exactly, do. We get to 20 billion. Or 30 billion, or a trillion) IoT devices? We’re certainly not going to get there with wearable devices and other personal gadgets. Well, we. Let’s do some simple calculations. There are (roughly) 7 billion people. IoT based on the number of people on the...

David Hansford – Out and About with my Camera
Out and About with my Camera. Written by David in Landscape. Asymp; 0 Comments. This is going back a while as this photograph was taken ten years ago in Normandy. Flat landscapes are not normally my thing but in this instance I spotted the scene whilst walking before breakfast whilst we were staying near Bayeux. I took just one shot, hearing that load distinctive sound as the shutter fired. That was all that was needed. I was using my Canon 1DS Mk3 with the 24-70mm f/2.8 lens set at its widest setting.

Running The Race
A runner’s journal. The Power of a Group. March 21st, 2012. One of the things I have always liked about running is the singularity of the sport. If I want to go run, I don’t have to find a partner or make a tee time. I can walk out the front door and run. Last year I started working the training programs at the local Fleet Feet. Store I have enjoyed running with a group and encouraging and coaching them. This morning I ran with a group that I knew would push me. It was great. January 9th, 2012. May 1st, ...
