A Jared Blog
Thursday, May 16, 2013. It has been a busy two days. Tuesday was filled with travel, including checking into the conference and picking up my Google Glass at Google's Mountain View headquarters. Flight of My Life
Flight of My Life. Thoughts and decisions leading up to Flight School. The past couple days have been frustrating due to our plans not working out and things seem to be turbulent. Today, I hit a low and felt lost. I decided to pray, listen to some worship music, and read my Bible. But as for me, I will look to the Lord;. I will wait for the God of my salvation;. My God will hear me. (Micah 7:7 ESV). For still the vision awaits its appointed time;. If it seems slow, wait for it;. Patience is hard, especia...

Judicious Use of Shitty Code. Here’s a little secret for newbie app developers out there: a fun app has nothing to do with clean code. Some of the worst code I’ve ever written has been in my most successful projects. Version 1.0 of Pillboxie was a tangle of spaghetti code written without delegation, NSNotificationCenter, or KVO. Let that sink in. Not all shitty code is equal. There’s such a thing as judicious use of shitty code. Your app shouldn’t crash, so don’t try to be clever. Is this app fun or what?
