David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive. Lives in Chippenham, Wiltshire but this is subject to change. Include relief printmaking, driving his daughter hither and yon, history, writing letters, speculative fiction, and bunking off to Greece whenever possible. Becalmed in a teacup - Olansa Cuttings - David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive
http://blog.olansa.co.uk/2007/03/15/becalmed-in-a-teacup
David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive. On Thursday, 15 March 2007 by David Harrison. Becalmed in a teacup. And many thanks to Bareners who gave advice on how to get a denser result print from ply. This one used my nipping press and a sandwich of heavy MDF board plus a little soft backing cardboard to even things out. Getting there…. Write your thoughts about this post. Be kind and play nicely. Friday, 16 March 2007 at 09:56. Nice whimsical image… I hope you do more! Sunday, 6 September 2009 at 19:01.
Door Ornament: The King of the Jungle - Olansa Cuttings - David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive
http://blog.olansa.co.uk/2008/02/25/door-ornament-the-king-of-the-jungle
David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive. On Monday, 25 February 2008 by David Harrison. Door Ornament: The King of the Jungle. Conventional wisdom says to burnish the transfer. But conventional wisdom doesn’t own a hydraulic press, so there! One minute and six tonnes later I had a perfect transfer. I’d already darkened the surface of the block with a mid-grey Copic Sketch Marker. The alcohol-based ink doesn’t fluff up the wood like water-based highlighters can, so it’s perfect for the job....The woodblock...

http://blog.olansa.co.uk/2007/09/27/enter-the-blue-meanie
David Harrison / Printmaking / Archive. On Thursday, 27 September 2007 by David Harrison. Enter the Blue Meanie. Warning: contains long, explicit discussion of printing press modding! Some time ago I decided that I wanted a Real Press (TM). There are some lovely products out there. Unfortunately ‘out there’ includes the price. So I saved, and waited. And waited…. The whole ensemble, frame and platen, came to around 60kg ( 120lbs). No light-weight! I decided to remove the platen, up-end the frame, and try...

My wood engraving and general arty blog. Tuesday, November 29, 2011. A bigger view of the block this time if you click on it, so you can get a feel for the cuts. I'm loving the swish and foam of the water but having to take the cutting cautiously as I don't want to lose the light and texture. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Rag & Bone: February 2015

One artist's journey through the valley of Printmaking. Friday, February 27, 2015. Yet More Superb Starling and The Hunt For Iridescence. You're probably thinking that I'm beating this poor old Starling print to death, but I wanted to share a few new things I learned on the way to finally getting an iridescent Superb Starling. I had tried everything from soup to nuts including several different inks, mixing mica with the ink, mixing gold powder in the ink, chine colléing (is that a verb? A little difficu...

One artist's journey through the valley of Printmaking. Tuesday, August 20, 2013. Flags Are Finally Flying High. Here's a close up of them all in a row. And that hubby's comment as, "Not a good idea." It probably wasn't, but they're up now! Besides, nothing I have ever done that had the tiniest degree of risk involved ever elicited anything other than, "Not a good idea".). You never know, though - give me a few days to recover from the ladder and the climbing and my mind could change - - again. My birth ...

My wood engraving and general arty blog. Wednesday, November 30, 2011. As you can see, I made good progress yesterday and just have a small area of wave to engrave, along with a cozzie and a few tweaks here and there. If I get on ok today I may be able to run off a first proof to see how the print looks. Society of Wood Engravers. The block is beautiful. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). My wood engraving and general arty blog. Friday, May 11, 2012. Block's cut for the first colour. The cut away areas will remain white when I print. I've chosen a fairly neutral colour scheme and the first colour will be the lightest. My printing press is set up to print colour in registration (it may or may not work, we'll see! The first print run. I've printed a few more than I want to cover any registration mishaps when printing other colours. I'm using water soluble lino printing ink, which I don't li...

My wood engraving and general arty blog. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. At long last, (having been delayed by many outside factors), I have managed to complete the block and start an edition run! So here we are.bathing beauties! Three jolly hardy ladies ride the surf on their ancient wooden belly boards. And all I can say is 'Roll on, Summer! I can't wait to get my belly board wet again. Studio Window: October 2011
http://studio-window.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
My wood engraving and general arty blog. Thursday, October 13, 2011. Here's the latest page in my sketchbook, along with a block bearing my chosen design in black ink. (in reverse of course, so that it prints the right way round). I shall begin to engrave today, hopefully it won't take long as it's only 7.5 cm x 12.4cm. The block is an old one made of (I think) box wood and resurfaced by Chris Daunt. The subject matter is one close to my heart (or perhaps I should say, my belly! Tuesday, October 04, 2011.

My wood engraving and general arty blog. Friday, May 27, 2011. Enter stage left.the audience. The audience is starting to appear. The lady centre foreground is going to be wrapped in a spotty blanket. She had acquired a glass of wine to keep her warm. Theatre dress is definitely skewed towards warm and weatherproof! Illustration, Painting, Pattern Design. My process of watercolor painting. Many people are asking me about my process of painting so here is how I work. I hope you’ll have fun with it ;). Before talking about the real process of creating my art I’d like to talk a little bit about the materials I mostly use. I use three types of Watercolors: Ecoline watercolor ink, Tubes of water color and the third type is dry color (Leningrad water color). To add the patterns and ornaments I take a fine brush, the color...

2 febrero, 2018.

Olansa Cuttings - Printmaking, SF&F
On Saturday, 5 April 2008 by David Harrison. Racking Up A Fair Clip. Forgive the title. At least it proves that, with sufficient effort, any two figures of speech can be nail-gunned together to form a meaningless headline…. So what about making my own? An evening’s rummage on eBay later, I had bought half a gross of bulldog clips and 200 large wooden beads (folksy bracelets, for the making of). Add to that some heavyweight printer paper and a few yards of genuine NATO-grade nylon cord (! I think these to...

Oleg A. Safonov — My Life Blog. Raquo;. Да есть!
