Wild Fiction: January 2014
https://blog.wildfiction.com/2014_01_01_archive.html
Not always wild, not always fiction. Thursday, January 30, 2014. Arkansas Black and Grimes Golden. Last Saturday (25 January 2014) I attended a grafting "class" at Arizona Rare Fruit Growers. And grafted my first tree. If they are successful then this is what I believe the Grimes Golden will look like:. And this will be the Arkansas Black:. Here are some notes from Joe Sabol CRFG Board member, ex president, and leader of a California program:. You can easily keep this tree at 8 or 10 or 12 feet tall!
Wild Fiction: Sugar Cane Jujube
https://blog.wildfiction.com/2014/09/sugar-cane-jujube.html
Not always wild, not always fiction. Tuesday, September 30, 2014. I planted this Sugar Can Jujube on 5 March 2014. At that time it was a bare root "stick" with nothing on it. It's done a remarkable job of growing branches and today (30 September 2014) has a single fruit on it. It seems to be doing well even though it's been getting way more water than it should be because of its proximity to the grass that's getting watered. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). I live and work in Scottsdale, AZ.

Not always wild, not always fiction. Tuesday, July 30, 2013. Time - Toastmasters Speech #7. Mister Toastmaster, fellow toastmasters and guests. Today I'm talking about time. More specifically I'm talking about the Toastmasters Timer. The final support function that the computer provides is that of timer. Here you can see the timer that I use during practice sessions. Wild Fiction: February 2014

Not always wild, not always fiction. Tuesday, February 11, 2014. Trader Joe's Excellent Service. They wouldn't hear of it. Instead one of them came out to help her clean up the mess in the parking lot and another took her receipt and went shopping with it and filled a new bag (this time no arguments from my wife on double bagging) with her groceries and brought them out to her - no extra charge. Isn't that incredible customer service? Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Ultramaroon rises again: Having a ball
http://robmanderson.blogspot.com/2009/06/having-ball.html
The life of Rob. Tuesday, June 30, 2009. I don't know that you'll remember, or want to remember, but I'm writing a new soundtrack to our movie. As much as I'd love to write something as pretentiously over the top as a 'Lord of the Rings' style soundtrack I very much doubt I have the talent or the time, and certainly not the experience. How to maintain both the tension and the listeners interest? I suspect he was surprised! Duh duh duh duh duh duh accompanied by whaaaaaaaaangggg - cant do that for 3 minut...
Ultramaroon rises again: Whatcha doing, Andrew?
http://robmanderson.blogspot.com/2009/06/whatcha-doing-andrew.html
The life of Rob. Monday, June 15, 2009. Whatcha doing, Andrew? I'm telling you, this being in loco parentis stuff ain't easy. You'll recall that a few months ago Andrew started showing off a girlfriend. A big moment in any lads life methinks, the first girlfriend. I still remember, vividly, that time of overcharged hormones and proprietary pride. Not PC these days? Nope But a real feeling at the time nonetheless. With a view to averting an unexpected step-grandchild from that particular quarter. A few we...
Ultramaroon rises again: Mando
http://robmanderson.blogspot.com/2009/03/mando.html
The life of Rob. Tuesday, March 24, 2009. Now I wouldn't want you to think *I* went out and got those number plates! Nope, they were my 40th birthday present from my second wife. I was, however, inordinately pleased at receiving them and would say, to any who cared to listen, that I 'used to think people with personalised plates were wankers and now I are one'. You can tell that my standards of humour haven't improved appreciably over the last half century! Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my com...
Ultramaroon rises again: Demonstrating ones intelligence.
http://robmanderson.blogspot.com/2009/11/demonstrating-ones-intelligence.html
The life of Rob. Wednesday, November 11, 2009. My wife continues, in the face of all the evidence, to insist that Morgan is highly intelligent. Perhaps she is but she certainly doesn't seem to want to *use* that intelligence. What use being intelligent if you're not prepared to exercise it at least some of the time? Or perhaps that's just me; the idea of being behind bars for even a day is something I'd really rather avoid! Over dinner tonight Sonya related some details of the latest epistle directed tow...
Ultramaroon rises again: Time for a good whinge
http://robmanderson.blogspot.com/2009/05/time-for-good-whinge.html
The life of Rob. Sunday, May 24, 2009. Time for a good whinge. I haven't had a good one in ages! Morgans second was delivered this week - Thursday morning to be precise. I actually didn't know the second little bastard had entered the world until Friday morning; my wife didn't think I'd be all that fussed to know. And let me tell you, she was correct. Even if one were able to pinpoint to the second the moment of conception there is *still* some uncertainty, no? Well, the might of the State of Arizona swu...
Ultramaroon rises again: Back in the USA
http://robmanderson.blogspot.com/2009/10/back-in-usa.html
The life of Rob. Monday, October 05, 2009. Back in the USA. I'm back in Phoenix after another two weeks spent in Australia. I may, if I can work up the enthusiasm for posts 1,112 etc (you get the idea) write about it. Sufficient for the nonce that two weeks was way too short. I don't mind admitting the shock when I tested the scales in the lunchroom at work a few weeks ago and they reported I was 11 stone 4 (158 pounds). How could I be that heavy methought? Those scales were liars! Don't I look cool (not!
Ultramaroon rises again: Now here's a puzzle
http://robmanderson.blogspot.com/2009/11/now-heres-puzzle.html
The life of Rob. Sunday, November 01, 2009. Now here's a puzzle. As you probably don't remember I'm a big fan of British Comedy, especially comedy from an earlier, more genteel period, the 1960's. My wife is long inured to the sight of me, headphones clapped on my head, laughing heartily at the latest (40 year old) tomfoolery on Round the Horne. Especially when Kenneth Williams. Chuckles from the sidelines. Good stuff! The program was Saturdays Comedy Controller, which first goes out at 10:00 AM London t...
Ultramaroon rises again: Supporting the rubber industry
http://robmanderson.blogspot.com/2009/03/supporting-rubber-industry.html
The life of Rob. Tuesday, March 31, 2009. Supporting the rubber industry. There comes a time in the life of every conscientious parent (or one who stands in loco parentis. When action must be taken. Thus to last night when Andrew seemed unusually pleased with himself, after an evening spent with his girlfriend. I swear he exuded self satisfaction. As I said to Sonya later that evening, he had every appearance of someone who'd gotten lucky! Now it's one thing to purchase em for ones own use; quite another...

Wild Fiction
Not always wild, not always fiction. Saturday, August 22, 2015. Location: Scottsdale, AZ. Yesterday evening I had a delicious Tuscan Cantaloupe. I saved around 50 seeds from it and dried them overnight. Today I pulled back the mulch in the orchard and laid a 7 foot 1/4 inch soaker tube attached to the orchard irrigation. It will get about 20 minutes of water each morning. I scattered the seeds evenly along the length of soaker hose. Five days after planting the germination count is 53. Noticed first flow...

Athena's Adventures
August 13, 2015 · 3:11 pm. Athena Visits the Botanical Garden. We were in luck, right after walking in the door a couple of butterflies came so close they almost flew into my face! I wanted to get my picture with some of the butterflies, so I stood by the flowers they seemed to like, but as soon as I got near the planter the butterflies flew away. I manage to get one picture with a butterfly in it but it turned out as an orange blur in front of the pot. I found another butterfly! It was really hot and su...
