Ramblings from Brad Tombaugh. Today, in their corporate blog. NetFlix announced that they would be keeping the Profiles feature. They had previously planned to eliminate the feature, which allows one customer to manage multiple queues of movies. This works out great for families, where each member of the family can select their own movies in their own queue, so that everyone gets something to watch. This is great news! Two of the pending transactions were authorizations from eBay, and another was from Ju...

Ramblings from Brad Tombaugh. Wine Tasting 16 March 2008. At the wine dinner last week, we sat with Sterling Robinson, Derek's friend from Seven 30 South. We talked about each wine as we tasted them. When we were discussing the Riesling's, he suggested that I try a Riesling from Alsace, France, as they have a different character than the German varieties that I usually get. When I stopped at Davidson's. 2006 Cellarmaster’s Riesling. Columbia Valley, Washington. Http:/ www.ColumbiaWinery.com. The Blue-gla...

Ramblings from Brad Tombaugh. Last week, we had a bottle of wine that my mother-in-law brought over. It was the 2006 Fetzer Vineyards. Valley Oaks Gewurztraminer. Gewurztraminer. Is a light grape from France and Germany, which Fetzer grows in its California vineyards. While not as sweet as the German Riesling that I usually prefer, this Gewurztraminer was actually quite nice! Ramblings from Brad Tombaugh. State High School Marching Band Competition. Yesterday we went to the Colorado Bandmaster's Association. State 4A/5A High School Marching Band. Finals held at Falcon Stadium at the Air Force Academy near Colorado Springs. First I have to say how amazing each and every band performed! I'm very impressed by the level of performance shown by all of these kids. I think that are far above where I remember my high school band, and possibly college bands at the time as well. Arapah...

Ramblings from Brad Tombaugh. Driving in the Mountains. We're spending the weekend at our trailer in Buena Vista. It was too windy yesterday to ride our bikes that we brought up, so we decided to drive down Highway 50 over Monarch Pass. This weekend has been my first chance to drive my new VW Jetta SportWagen TDI in the mountains, so I was interested to see how it handled the higher altitude and steeper grades. The 2.0L TDI. Makes plenty of power to ascend even a 7% grade at 11,000 feet. Makes plenty of ...

Ramblings from Brad Tombaugh. I hate SPAM, and GoDaddy is Useless! After the debacle with my CenturyLink DSL last summer, I had to make a quick decision on alternatives to hosting my own domain, email and web. I ended up being off the network for two weeks when CenturyLink couldn't figure out how to restore my DSL server when they did an upgrade that I had already cancelled. Many years ago, I used a domain-hosting service called DomainDiscover. Let me say at this point that if you have looked up my name ...
