For my birthday weekend we decided to head to Cook Forest. It's 800 acres of either old growth (never logged) or second growth forest (some parts logged in 1800s). It was about 2 hours northeast. The dog was a bit anxious at times, but handled the car ride pretty well. Found at least one wooly! This was the view out the back of our cabin.

For our first anniversary we decided to use our gift of a stay at the Glendorn. After a 3 hour windy car ride in which the dog threw up in the car (gross! We arrived at this gated enclave in upper western PA. It was a gorgeous country estate with some historic properties that has completely been renovated and is now a fancy country retreat.
