Bon Vivant Family

Tuesday, September 11, 2012. Today it rained. Not just rain, but rainy, gloomy, almost-sweater weather. That's not really a big deal in most of the Northern Hemisphere in September. But in Arizona, it tempts all of us desert-dwellers to believe that fall is really here. I'm not buying it. Nevertheless, today was fall. Soup for lunch. Comfort food for dinner. 1 tablespoon olive oil. 2 shallots, minced. 1 garlic clove, minced. 2 tablespoons heavy cream. 1/4 cup minced flat-leaf parsley. When the pasta is fi...

Bon Vivant Family: October 2011

http://bonvivantfamily.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Monday, October 17, 2011. This morning I had a pumpkin on my counter. This evening I ate pumpkin pie. Who needs canned pumpkin when you can so easily cook your own? I use Chinese five-spice powder because it was what I had in my cupboard and because I enjoyed the especially spicy flavor it imbues. However, you're welcome to substitute a pumpkin pie spice blend or a combination of ginger, nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. 1/2 cup half and half. 2 teaspoons Chinese five spice powder. Enough with all of the ve...

Bon Vivant Family: Simple Coq au Vin Blanc

http://bonvivantfamily.blogspot.com/2012/04/simple-coq-au-vin-blanc.html

Friday, April 6, 2012. Simple Coq au Vin Blanc. In anticipation of the French cooking class I'm hosting next month, I began testing coq au vin recipes last week. I far prefer coq au vin blanc versus the coq au vin made with red wine. With white, the sauce tastes similar to beurre blanc, but richer and more savory. Moreover, I'm in love with beef bourguignon, and I don't want the dishes to taste quite so much alike. For now, I hope you enjoy this coq au vin blanc recipe as much as I do. 1/4 cup olive oil.

andrewtheshaw: Relationally Thinking

http://andrew-the-shaw.blogspot.com/2010/08/relationally-thinking.html

Tuesday, August 17, 2010. The easy answer is through the Holy Spirit, through the Word of God (the Bible), and through prayer/meditation. This doesn't quite satisfy me though. So I started to ponder it and think through some of the practical issues with that. Here are my results:. 1 We are relational creatures made in God's image and therefore must have relationships in order to operate as we are designed. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). andrewtheshaw: Philippians 1:9-11

http://andrew-the-shaw.blogspot.com/2011/11/philippians-19-11.html

Monday, November 7, 2011. And it is my prayer that your love may abound more and more, with knowledge and all discernment, so that you may approve what is excellent, and so be pure and blameless for the day of Christ, filled with the fruit of righteousness that comes through Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. This passage has been stuck in my head for several weeks now. I keep going back to it. I keep thinking of Paul's prayer for the Philippians. Are you living the American Christian dream?

While it isn't the primary emphasis of what Paul is saying, we can realize and apply the concept of being around those who are not believers who fit those descriptions. coffee and sunshine: December 2011

http://lovingcoffeeandsunshine.blogspot.com/2011_12_01_archive.html

Thursday, December 29, 2011. We are blessed. God has given us life. I am thankful for that fact as Christmas just passed and I have thought a lot about Christ coming as a sweet little baby. This has become more real and harder for me to fathom now that we have Lucy. I can't imagine my Lord being a little one like Lu, but I am so thankful. We have life because of it. Christmas Eve at home sick. Coffee and sunshine. by kim. Links to this post. Saturday, December 17, 2011. I can make it. I can get there.

Thursday, September 13, 2012. So many things happening. I feel like I can't even begin to describe the craziness that has been going on around here. Highlights:. We had a party. Baby and husband have been sick. Big girl got ear surgery today. Baby is switching from bottles to milk. There are so many more things that have been going on in the midst of these family milestones and important events. Needless to say my house is a disaster. Laundry is taking over. I'm tired. andrewtheshaw: The Will of God

http://andrew-the-shaw.blogspot.com/2011/05/will-of-god.html

Thursday, May 19, 2011. The Will of God. I read a good book the other day. It's called " Just Do Something. By Kevin DeYoung. It's a really easy read regarding how to make decisions and live within the will of God. I recommend it. The main premise that DeYoung is arguing is that God isn't too worried about where you live, what you do, who you marry (so long as they love the Lord), or what hobbies you do. God is much more concerned in how you do those things. How do you do your job? No, but you can unders...
