The Book-a-Week Project

Saturday, July 28, 2012. Book 54: ****** Royale by Ian Fleming. ****** Royale was an interesting book and not really what I expected. I'd never read a James Bond book before this one and my only impressions of the character came from the films. In those, Bond is a suave, confident ladies man with expert knowledge of firearms and fighting in general. In the book, the character is much more nuanced. Saturday, July 21, 2012. Book 53: Le Vicomte de Bragelonne by Alexandre Dumas. Le Vicomte de Bragelonne.

The Book-a-Week Project: Book 53: Le Vicomte de Bragelonne by Alexandre Dumas

http://www.bookaweekproject.blogspot.com/2012/07/book-53-le-vicomte-de-bragelonne.html

Saturday, July 21, 2012. Book 53: Le Vicomte de Bragelonne by Alexandre Dumas. For this year I've changed the way I'm making these posts. Instead of having one at the beginning of the week and then editing in a review after finishing the book, I'm going to simply make one post each Saturday when I should have completed that week's reading. Onward! Le Vicomte de Bragelonne. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Book 54: Casino Royale by Ian Fleming. Book 53: Le Vicomte de Bragelonne by Alexandre Dum.

The Book-a-Week Project: Book 50: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee

http://www.bookaweekproject.blogspot.com/2012/06/book-50-to-kill-mockingbird-by-harper.html

Monday, June 25, 2012. Book 50: To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee. My poor book cover is in bad shape, but I like the design so I decided to scan it and post it anyway. This was a short, little book, 284 pages, which belies it's content which is amazingly deep. The characters are very deep and very human. Atticus is a model gentleman and father. He struggles with himself and believes he should do more for his children than he's able, but isn't that how all fathers should be? 10 out of 10. As I Lay Dying.

The Book-a-Week Project: One Year Round-Up

http://www.bookaweekproject.blogspot.com/2012/07/one-year-round-up.html

Tuesday, July 10, 2012. 52 books in 52 weeks has been one heck of a project. Overall, I loved it! Not sure, maybe the Game of Thrones series. I plan to continue my project, which is why I called this post, Year One. I might change things up slightly in the future, maybe add more genres or space things out differently but I'll keep updating my thoughts on each book as I finish it. Thanks for staying with me for an entire year and we'll see where the next one takes us. It's been a fun ride. A Clash of Kings.

The Book-a-Week Project: September 2011

http://www.bookaweekproject.blogspot.com/2011_09_01_archive.html

Monday, September 26, 2011. Book 11: The Right Stuff by Tom Wolfe. All-in-all I really enjoyed this book. I feel like I learned something about an era that I didn't really know much about. It dragged a bit in some places but, since it is non-fiction, it is inevitable that some parts will be more interesting than others. I'd give this one a 9 out of 10. Tuesday, September 20, 2011. Book 10: The Murder of Roger Ackroyd by Agatha Christie. The Murder of Roger Ackroyd. Monday, September 12, 2011. 6 out of 10.

Monday, May 28, 2012. Book 46: The Last Command by Timothy Zahn. Time to finish off another series. Seems like I've been doing a lot of that lately. This one will mark the end of my Star Wars reading for a while. It's been fun and I'm looking forward to the ending, so here we go. 467 pages makes 67 pages per day. So the final battle between the good Jedi and the bad is exciting and engaging. This, coupled with the ending of the other plotlines made the conclusion of this series quite satisfying. The art ...

some bodhi to love: March 2012

http://somebodhitolove.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html

Some bodhi to love. Monday, March 19, 2012. Bodhi decided that he really wanted an Angry Birds party. He's been really into playing the game so we decided to go with that theme for his birthday party this year. For decorations we started with Angry Birds plates, cups and napkins, all store-bought. The goody bags were plain gift bags with printed face stickers of birds and pigs. I found the free file online here: angry birds. Artwork by Bodhi's cousin, Mason. Friday, March 16, 2012. A Day with the Fishes.

some bodhi to love: March 2011

http://somebodhitolove.blogspot.com/2011_03_01_archive.html

Some bodhi to love. Saturday, March 19, 2011. Wednesday was Bodhi's 3rd birthday, so Ray and I took the day off work to take Bodhi to Disneyland (of course)! We had a great day, even though it was a bit crowded. Sherry and the kids met us there later in the afternoon. We managed to get on most of Bodhi's favorite rides including Winnie the Pooh, Casey Jr. Train, It's a small world, and the tree house (although I passed on the tree house this time. Too many steps! some bodhi to love: A quick update

http://somebodhitolove.blogspot.com/2012/06/quick-update.html

Some bodhi to love. Friday, June 1, 2012. The real news, however, is that Kira is walking! She took her first steps last weekend and has been gaining more and more confidence walking between items and people. I typically put her down a few steps away and she will walk right over. She even walks to Bodhi when he's nearby and he cheers for her and gives her a hug. I'll get a video of that up as soon as possible, because it's adorable. Congratulations, Kira! You're officially a toddler! More or Less in PDX.

Some bodhi to love. Saturday, May 28, 2011. Mommy, I'm going to check my email. How do I find my email? Saturday, May 21, 2011. Friday, May 20, 2011. Bodhi has been an excellent big brother so far. He doesn't seem to be at all troubled by a little baby moving in on his turf. He always wants to help out with his little sister and has been a big help with feedings, diapers and bathtime. Pretty good at guarding it though. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). More than chocolate cake. More or Less in PDX.

some bodhi to love: Christmas rehab.

http://somebodhitolove.blogspot.com/2011/12/christmas-rehab.html

Some bodhi to love. Thursday, December 29, 2011. We are slowly getting through the pile of presents, etc. left over from Christmas. It's taking a while to find a place for everything and Bodhi keeps taking out toys that I've already put away. I think that it'll probably be a while until our place returns to something resembling normal. Until then, we're taking a relaxed attitude about the mess. So funny. does jen know you posted this picture? Sharing the mess with everyone. i love it. More or Less in PDX.

Some bodhi to love. Thursday, August 22, 2013. First Day of School. Well, it's finally happened. Bodhi started school. We've been preparing for this moment for what seems like years. He didn't seem to have too many concerns about what, to us, was a huge step in his life. I think that Jen and I were more nervous about it than he was. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). http://somebodhitolove.blogspot.com/2011_11_01_archive.html

Some bodhi to love. Monday, November 28, 2011. A Long, Long Weekend. Thanksgiving was a four day weekend for us and we made the most of it. First was Thanksgiving dinner at Christina's house with the family. After some turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, cranberry sauce, sweet potatoes, brussels sprouts, etc. etc. etc. we watched a little football and a little Charlie Brown and settled in for the evening. Wait who thought giving him a bat was a good idea? When it would connect. Once they broke open th...

Some bodhi to love. Sunday, August 21, 2011. Static Electricity is COOL! Woah, what's up with your hair, dude? Saturday, August 20, 2011. A day in the life, Kira edition. Way back when Bodhi was about 2 months old I had a post. That showed a whole day of his life in pictures. I thought it would be fun to do the same thing with Kira. So here it is! And for comparison, here's the same day for Bodhi. whew, what a handful! Gotta love a day with the kids! Monday, August 8, 2011. Napping on the way there.

Book a Week | Ploughing through the world's literature

Ploughing through the world's literature. Where Do Comedians Go When They Die: Journey Of A Stand-Up. As a book I rather enjoyed Mr Lonely. But as an insight into the author it showed a very different side to Eric Morecambe, one far removed from the cheerful jester known to his television audiences. I was a little worried, going by this book title, that my impression of Milton Jones would take a similar beating. Where Do Comedians Go When They Die: Journey Of A Stand-Up. 5 stars – it was amazing. If Sid ...
