The New and Improved Book of CC. Thoughts and observations from Maine. College student, writer, photographer in Auburn, Maine. Posted on Saturday, March 28, 2009. So anyway. Matt's starting to prepare for the impending collapse of human civilization. Or the zombie uprising, whichever comes first. Cause when you've got zombies and blue berets out there on the lawn, you need plenty of bottled water and ammo. What a wonderful time of year- just as the days are getting longer and warmer, Girl Scout cookies a...
The New & Improved Book of CC: Rhymes with "fling."

The New and Improved Book of CC. Thoughts and observations from Maine. College student, writer, photographer in Auburn, Maine. Rhymes with "fling.". Posted on Tuesday, April 14, 2009. Maine has four distinct seasons: fall, winter, mud and July. The five-foot piles of snow are gone. It hasn't rained for a good 7 days straight. The mud has pretty much dried up. (I really should get out there and fill in the holes from when the car got stuck in like ten inches of muck.). It's like 55 degrees out today.

The New and Improved Book of CC. Thoughts and observations from Maine. College student, writer, photographer in Auburn, Maine. Spring Break 2: Electric Boogaloo. Posted on Thursday, March 26, 2009. House-sitter's log. Day 4. 3/26/09. Right now, a burly man wearing a stocking cap is outside the window. He's checking out the well. Yeah, this place is so far from civilization that we must extract our water from the earth, rather than purchase it from a public utility. A plumber came and checked it out, and ...

The New and Improved Book of CC. Thoughts and observations from Maine. College student, writer, photographer in Auburn, Maine. Getting down with the sickness. Posted on Monday, April 06, 2009. I spent several hours in the emergency room today- one of my favorite pastimes, for sure. I don't have a real doctor, nor do I have any insurance to speak of. Back in Connecticut, there was a walk-in medical clinic on every corner; that was my health plan, and it worked. Here in Maine, though? Fast forward to Centr...

Mrs.Eclecticist: Questions for lovers
http://mrseclecticist.blogspot.com/2015/01/questions-for-lovers.html
A little of this, a little of that. Wednesday, January 14, 2015. To Fall in Love With Anyone, do This". Is a fascinating article from the January 9 NYT. Apparently the psychologist who developed these questions got two people to fall in love as they shared their responses in a lab. I think many of these would be good tools for self-knowledge as well. Questions developed as a task for generating closeness. Task Slips for Closeness-Generating Procedure. 1 Given the choice of anyone in the world, whom would.
Mrs.Eclecticist: God, via Anne Lamott

A little of this, a little of that. Thursday, January 15, 2015. God, via Anne Lamott. Let's settle this God thing once and for all. God, or no God? Who on earth knows? Any proof, either way? None, except for Bach, foxes, forgiveness, elephants, bulbs and my dog Lily, may she rest in peace. Also, the fact that someone like me could have 28 years without alcohol or the non-habit-forming marijuana I smoked on a daily basis for 15 years. Also, ripe peaches, books, and Mr. Rogers. It's none of your business w...

A Book of Carling, please
A Book of Carling, please.

The New & Improved Book of CC
The New and Improved Book of CC. Thoughts and observations from Maine. College student, writer, photographer in Auburn, Maine. Was Obama talking to me when he said "Pull your pants up"? Posted on Wednesday, April 15, 2009. I apparently lost some weight while I was sick. This morning I was vaguely aware that I was yanking up my jeans more than usual. After class I went to the library to look up some database stuff for a while. After that, I headed for the ladies' room before leaving campus. Still, it's pr...
The Book of CC, vol. 2 | It lives.
The Book of CC, vol. 2. Just a job huntin’ fool. February 22, 2013. My beloved annual seasonal job has ended. They kept me on for a lot longer than usual- late February vs. late December. Co-workers said it was a good sign that I was still there so long after peak. I had high hopes of scoring one of those elusive permanent year-round jobs. They cut me loose and- of course- I’d been getting a little cocky and complacent and didn’t have anything else lined up. As paraphrased from memory). August 19, 2012.

Footsteps In The Sand. One night a man had a dream. He dreamed he was walking along the beach with the LORD. Across the sky flashed scenes from his life. For each scene, he noticed two sets of footprints in the sand:. One belonging to him, and the other to the LORD. When the last scene of his life flashed before him. He looked back, at the footprints in the sand. He noticed that many times along the path of his life. There was only one set of footprints. LORD, you said that once I decided to follow you,.

Keeping a Book of Centuries - welcome
We are so accustomed to take wonders. As matters of course, mere everyday events, that it does not occur to us to be surprised.". Maybe I love words most for the ideas they embody and the truth they can so unflinchingly carry. My third and ultimate love: the WORD and finding Him present not only in scripture but in the wonder of science and Nature, the "great matters" of Literature and History, the kneading of bread, conversation with friends and "by supping on oysters.".
