According to Jesuit Deeds and Records Boone's Chapel was erected in 1710 near Cheltenham in Southern Prince George's County, Maryland, and used until 1859. Wrote of Boone's Chapel:. The Giant White Oak Tree. Excerpt from radio broadcast of 1946:. On a sad note, the storm winds that blew through the cemetary on Saturday evening. November 1, 2014, brought down our old giant. The main truck had rotted and could no longer sustain the weight of its branches. After a life spanning 320 or more years, the majestic white oak of Boones Chapel fell to the ground. If we drive down to Marlboro over the Crain Highway, continue south seven miles to Cheltenham, and then turn left, we enter a very pleasant and a very beautiful country. Traversing the countless roads of the area, we see many of the old colonial mansions still standing on sites of eminence selected for the charming vistas on every side.
