Friday, May 15, 2015. Last night we had to make an emergency trip to the vet for our little house dog. We've had her now for 12 years and she's been a part of our lives longer than the Sanctuary has been up and running. The only other animal that we've had longer is Dude. Everyone else has come since we took Trouble in as a two year old. She's 14 years old and her health is failing. People continually tell me they don't know how I do it, to care for an old animal and then have to make that final decision...

On occasion, we attend auctions and bring home a horse that desperately needs a second chance. We follow strict criteria when looking at auction horses, including searching for old horses that need a retirement home and horses that are emaciated. Emaciated horses that we rescue are brought back to health and we work to find them new homes to spoil them. A place for the young at heart. Borderlands Horse Sanctuary is a permanent retirement home for senior horses and horses with special needs.

Standard Veterinary Care Policy. The Sanctuary is currently a private operation. Until recently, all funds came directly from the founder and manager's account. We are currently working on our non-profit paperwork so that we can provide more homes for senior equines. We are looking for knowledgeable people willing to help assist us with completing non-profit paperwork.
