boring-sf-finds: Orange Moon, Red Planet and some Stripes
http://boring-sf-finds.blogspot.com/2014/05/orange-moon-red-planet-and-some-stripes.html
I found this stuff mostly in San Francisco. Tuesday, April 15, 2014. Orange Moon, Red Planet and some Stripes. 2014-04-16 Lunar eclipse. I think this is about the full eclipse of the moon. Unfortunately there were a lot of thin clouds. Luckily they were thin enough that it was still easy to see the eclipse. I think this shot is a bit before the full eclipse but it was a bit more clear. Here is an animation of a little bit into the eclipse till it started to go orange. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

boring-sf-finds: May 2014
http://boring-sf-finds.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
I found this stuff mostly in San Francisco. Saturday, May 03, 2014. Whales in the Line Up. Saw 4 or more whales on dawn patrol at Montera. Only managed to get this short video of one or two before suiting up. We paddled out to just about where they were but we didn't see any while we were surfing. When we got out we saw a few about 1/4 mile to the south. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Knit a bird snorkel. Professional man of leisure. Whales in the Line Up.

I found this stuff mostly in San Francisco. Wednesday, March 13, 2013. It's comet Pan-STARRS and it looks a little like an "! Me and a friend just managed to get a look at Pan-STARRS tonight at work. It was cool but we did need binoculars or my camera 200mm lens to see it. I'm pretty happy with the pictures I managed to get. Keep looking west at sunset for the next week or so and maybe you can catch a glimpse of it. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile. Knit a bird snorkel.

boring-sf-finds: March 2015
http://boring-sf-finds.blogspot.com/2015_03_01_archive.html
I found this stuff mostly in San Francisco. Friday, March 06, 2015. Jupiter Quick and Dirty. Took an unplanned quick picture(s as in a stack of 20) of Jupiter from the kitchen. Totally unplanned and with my small telescope, no tracking (just a tripod) looking across a slightly hazy sky through a slightly dirty window. I can't complain. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). boring-sf-finds: Spooky Spot
http://boring-sf-finds.blogspot.com/2014/10/spooky-spot.html
I found this stuff mostly in San Francisco. Tuesday, October 28, 2014. Sun is wishing everyone a happy Halloween -:]. Sun spot AR2192 is about to go away but is looking a bit like a skull right? Trying eye-piece projection with my little 81mm refactor scope. Worked out okay. Hope to try again in a few weeks when it comes back around or if there are any new semi big or interesting sunspots now that I have my solar filters. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). boring-sf-finds: Found a Pinwheel and a Horsehead
http://boring-sf-finds.blogspot.com/2014/10/found-pinwheel-and-horsehead.html
I found this stuff mostly in San Francisco. Monday, October 27, 2014. Found a Pinwheel and a Horsehead. Went camping at Pinnicals National Park and was finally able to get my new little telescope out under pretty dark skies. Mixed luck but super fun! First time imaging the Triangulum Galaxy (aka m33). Only about 7min of exposure but still got something. Need to get a couple of hours of this one at some point. Finally managed to get an okay image of the Horsehead Nebula!
