March 25, 2015. So this morning I had woken with swollen glands in my neck, an extremely sore throat, and the inability to swallow even liquid without the urge to cry from the pain! I could just close the laptop, and get myself back in bed to recover, but that wont get any work done, will it? I really need to crack on with my other assignments. After all, I don’t have long left and I have a STACK of assignments to be working on. I’m not sure what the point of this post was, probably just to moan! April 0...

March 31, 2015. I’m not going to define it as cunning, deceitful or sly but in the obsolete as skillful, ingenious and dexterous. If I might venture a guess, I would say I’d rather design a good project that is crafted and executed well than design a great project and have it built and crafted poorly. Where we had one of those great moments. Needs to be shared in two episodes addressing two different fiber-cement rain-screen systems that we used for two different reasons. This was a re-cladding. On The D...

Monthly Archives: November 2014. The Design Process- Model Making. November 18, 2014. For those that are familiar with my blog, you will know that for my most recent design project I was to design an ‘add on’ building, to join a part of Senate House Library in London. After making the structural model, I had realised that I had added too many beams in to my structure. This then had to be changed on my AutoCAD drawings. Pictures of models are below: All models are at scale 1:50. Shock of The New. We have ...

Monthly Archives: October 2014. October 27, 2014. Following my visit to Senate House, London, I am required to start the design process of the ‘Add-on’ Project that I have spoken about in a previous blog. The first thing I looked at was the ‘Rucksack building’. This building was given to us as a class as an example of an ‘add-on’ type project, and actually, I found it quite interesting. I have found a website with a bit of info on the rucksack building (below). Http:/ www.mymodernmet.com/profiles...I rea...
