Old Dallas Stuff: April 2012
http://dallasmemorabilia.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Resurrecting Dallas' past with Ephemera. Tuesday, April 17, 2012. Kirby's Pig Stand No. 4. It isn't clear what happened to all those Pig Stands. From the beginning, at least in Dallas, they were easy targets for thieves. From old news accounts it appears a Pig Stand burglary or robbery was an almost weekly occurrence. When gas was rationed during World War II the Pig Stands saw a decline in business. By the end of the war there were probably only a few Stands left in Dallas. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Resurrecting Dallas' past with Ephemera. Wednesday, December 24, 2014. Windshield Glass Manufacturing Co. - Season's Greetings. Our New Home - 3404 Ross Avenue - Dallas, Tex. The last of my holiday offerings. Quite a mixture of a Santa-baby, reindeer, and fir tree in that bottom panel, but alas, still no mention of Christmas. I guess that could be a baby Jesus but it looks more like the New Year baby to me. Merry Christmas, all! Tuesday, December 23, 2014. The Baker Hotel - Season's Greetings. 1009 Bryan...

Old Dallas Stuff: Dallas Texans Football Club
http://dallasmemorabilia.blogspot.com/2015/08/dallas-texans-football-club.html
Resurrecting Dallas' past with Ephemera. Saturday, August 1, 2015. Dallas Texans Football Club. Member American Football League. There were two incarnations of the Dallas Texans. The first one was "a franchise born of failure", and it played just one season, 1952, before going under. Here's the longer story. This matchbook, however, is from the second Dallas Texans team, born in 1960. And today the Chiefs are still using those colors. Does anyone remember the Titans? Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Resurrecting Dallas' past with Ephemera. Friday, July 31, 2015. 501 N Akard - Phone 2-3978. Distributors of Mohawk Tires. This building is long gone, replaced by skyscrapers, but I like to imagine what the interesting facade portrayed on this matchbook looked like in real life. It reminds me of the old Polar Bear across from Lake Cliff Park, with its white stucco finish. Thursday, July 30, 2015. EM Kahn and Co. Main and Elm at Lamar, Dallas. A few paragraphs up from the bottom of the page). Given name Ja...

Old Dallas Stuff: November 2013

Resurrecting Dallas' past with Ephemera. Tuesday, November 5, 2013. Looking North on Akard St. from Wood. Adolphus Hotel in background. Color by Leonard Raef. After the Baker Hotel was demolished in 1980, the old "fun" part of Dallas eventually disappeared, and Akard became a narrow tree-lined driveway for ATT Plaza. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).
