Aartilla the Fun: Aarti Paarti Ep. 25: Sheesh! Kebabs
http://aartilla.blogspot.com/2009/09/aarti-paarti-ep-25-sheesh-kebabs.html
Eat giggle. repeat. Wednesday, September 23, 2009. Aarti Paarti Ep. 25: Sheesh! Growing up in Dubai, Dad would sometimes surprise us with a feast of Lebanese food on Fridays (our day off). Once the food had arrived, we'd pile our plates high with generous dollops of smooth hummus, pleasantly bumpy babaghanoush, fresh peppery greens, crunchy radishes, warm bread and of course, the piece de resistance, KEBABS! Chicken, beef, lamb - why are kebabs so much fun to eat? Man, woman, fire, meat? Kebab Great mind...

Running With The Red Kenyan: Running My Chi Off
http://redkenyanrunning.blogspot.com/2010/02/running-my-chi-off.html
Running With The Red Kenyan. For starters, my name, The Red Kenyan, is dripping with irony. This blog is a document of one average runner's struggle with the marathon, and distances beyond. Friday, February 12, 2010. Running My Chi Off. Although it was supposed to be an easy run, I averaged 8:14/mile and felt refreshed afterwards. Sometimes, you pull a nice run out of your ass, and you've got no idea where it comes from. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). A Day Without Me (Part Two: My Redemption).

Aartilla the Fun: Aarti Cooks: Hair of the Dog Hash
http://aartilla.blogspot.com/2009/03/aarti-cooks-hair-of-dog-hash.html
Eat giggle. repeat. Wednesday, March 18, 2009. Aarti Cooks: Hair of the Dog Hash. Ouch My head hurts. But everytime it throbs, I smile remembering the source of my pain. Having married into an Irish-American family, St. Patrick's day has taken on an entirely different meaning for me. I barely noticed it when I was growing up in Dubai, except when the Irish boy in my class, Jonathan Ryan, poked a daffodil through his lapel. Oh-ho, have times changed now that I've come to America! Boiling one brisket the t...

Aartilla the Fun: Aarti Paarti Ep. 27: "I Ain't Chicken" Chicken!
http://aartilla.blogspot.com/2009/10/aarti-paarti-ep-27-i-aint-chicken.html
Eat giggle. repeat. Thursday, October 15, 2009. Aarti Paarti Ep. 27: "I Ain't Chicken" Chicken! It was, I realise, going to be a bit of a celebration of myself. Usually, these little show intros are upbeat and funny, but I'm feeling a bit introspective today. Well, let's disband this pity party and focus on the recipe, shall we? This is a simplified version of the "I Ain't Chicken" Chicken. This version uses just chicken breasts, on the bone, and it's flavoured with cardamom, orange and fresh ginger.

Eat giggle. repeat. Monday, October 12, 2009. Veggie Chili for a Blanket-y Day. Sometimes, I wonder whether LA's bright, sunny weather is wasted on me. I mean, I love waking up to sunshine every day, but nothing makes my heart sing like a grey day. So, before I give you the recipe, here are a few thoughts/tips - then you can make your own version. The process of making chili usually goes something like this:. 1) Sautee your aromatics in a nice big pot. Plus, the better it'll be for you! Listen people....

Aartilla the Fun: Facial Massage
http://aartilla.blogspot.com/2009/10/facial-massage.html
Eat giggle. repeat. Thursday, October 8, 2009. It's been a bit nuts around here recently. Thankfully, the laptop is back, and so is the internet, and I was so lucky to have my besties from college come visit me this past weekend (pics coming! This morning, I found myself watching almost every one of these makeup videos from a woman called Oxford Jasmine. She has one up on facial massage, which she won't allow me to embed for some reason, but here's the link. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). Sausage wi...

Aartilla the Fun: Seeing Red
http://aartilla.blogspot.com/2009/09/seeing-red.html
Eat giggle. repeat. Tuesday, September 8, 2009. I've never felt like I had a beautiful figure. Not one person on TV or in the movies has ever made me feel like my particular configuration of boobs, hips and thighs was beautiful. Not Marilyn Monroe (my boobs are bigger), not Salma Hayek (her waist is smaller), not even the heroines of Bollywood who have, sadly, now embraced the tiny waist 'n' hip silhouette so common amongst their Hollywood counterparts. I find myself reading every article about her, abou...

Aartilla the Fun: Sweet Sweet Joo
http://aartilla.blogspot.com/2008/10/sweet-sweet-joo.html
Eat giggle. repeat. Tuesday, October 28, 2008. I am lucky to have circle upon circle of friends, a special blessing given my years of not having any (backstory here. One of them lives far away in New York. We lived together oh so many years ago in Hoboken, sharing bags of bacon cheddar chips on the weekends, whilst watching Real World marathons. We caught matinee horror movies ("I'll never teeellllll! A simple friend has never seen you cry. A real friend has shoulders soggy from your tears. A real friend...
