Unschooling Catholics: What is Catholic Unschooling?
http://unschoolingcatholics.blogspot.com/2008/10/what-is-catholic-unschooling.html
Where Catholicism and Unschooling meet. Monday, October 6, 2008. What is Catholic Unschooling? As an addendum to Maria's post below. How do we define unschooling? I think, perhaps, that unschooling can be an idea held in the eye of the beholder, so to speak. An idea that differs among people. I say we are unschooly. That we learn from interests and from life, family centred learning, not necessarily using school methods or following a school curriculum. And I like these unschooling definitions. One Sunda...

Growing Your Homeschool: Should You Join?
http://growingyourhomeschool.blogspot.com/2013/12/should-you-join.html
Monday, December 9, 2013. Staring at the sign, we couldn't believe it. Two choices were before us. Either pay $125 for all six of us to enter the museum and take a guided tour, or. Pay $120 to gain admittance for the day with the guided tour and become members for an entire year. Our membership would allow us to revisit anytime over the following year and take select guided tours for free. We would also receive two guest tickets with our membership. But will we use it? We've joined an art museum for a ye...

Growing Your Homeschool: November 2013
http://growingyourhomeschool.blogspot.com/2013_11_01_archive.html
Friday, November 29, 2013. To Break or not to Break? This week, the kids and I traveled over the river and through the woods to Grandma's house! Now, we're snuggled up with family, enjoying our time together and eating too much food. I'm forgoing most of the mega deals this year, so no need to brave the Black Friday crowds. This is the first time, though, that we've gone on a vacation like this and I brought our homeschool stuff with us! Yes, I'm sneaky like that. Why or why not? Friday, November 22, 2013.

Growing Your Homeschool: January 2013

Wednesday, January 16, 2013. When I Didn't Have the Motivation. I don't know about you, but sometimes, I simply don't have the motivation for lessons that we need to learn in our homeschool. Sometimes, I put off teaching something simply because it just seems like too much work or I am not interested in it. The next time that I have no motivation, I hope that I can remember how thankful I am for finding the motivation to teach my girls about Christmas! Tuesday, January 8, 2013. Early, limited data for early, limited formula use | Breastfeeding Medicine
https://bfmed.wordpress.com/2013/05/13/early-limited-data-for-early-limited-formula-use
Physicians blogging about breastfeeding. Early, limited data for early, limited formula use. Published in Pediatrics suggests that supplementing newborns with small quantities of formula may improve long-term breastfeeding rates. The results challenge both dogma and data linking supplementation with early weaning, call into question the Joint Commission’s exclusive breastfeeding quality metric, and will no doubt inspire intimations of a formula-industry conspiracy. Before we use this study ...Laurie Nomm...

Growing Your Homeschool: October 2013
http://growingyourhomeschool.blogspot.com/2013_10_01_archive.html
Thursday, October 31, 2013. Can you believe that it's November already? God's really been teaching me something this last week or so. It keeps happening. I'm going to write that blog post tomorrow. We'll do that history project tomorrow. We'll clean out the garage tomorrow. Know what happens? Because I do know how to prioritize. God first, family second, everything else below that. And in order to take care of the family, I have to take care of myself. However, there is also a fine line between valid exc...

Growing Your Homeschool: May 2013
http://growingyourhomeschool.blogspot.com/2013_05_01_archive.html
Friday, May 17, 2013. Breaking Out of the Box (Taking the First Step Away from Boxed Curriculum). Today, we are very excited to have a guest post by Dusty from To the Moon and Back. When I first started homeschooling four years ago, I barely knew anything about the journey that I was about to embark on. I had never expected to educate my children on my own and I didn't know anyone else who did it either. I was all alone in a great big new world. Lost. We began to want to explore and stretch outside of it.

Unschooling Catholics: If I could tell a new homeschool mum one thing.....
http://unschoolingcatholics.blogspot.com/2012/12/if-i-could-tell-new-homeschool-mum-one.html
Where Catholicism and Unschooling meet. Wednesday, December 26, 2012. If I could tell a new homeschool mum one thing. If I could tell a new homeschool mum one thing, it would be… to give it ( whatever it is) Time. Time The biggest secret in homeschooling/unschooling. Time for a child to mature, so that the boy who hates writing at age six. Time to read and read together without school schedules and have-tos. And time for mum to realise that things that seem major and crisis making and overwhelming now wi...

Unschooling Catholics: On the Christian Education of Youth
http://unschoolingcatholics.blogspot.com/2008/10/on-christian-education-of-youth.html
Where Catholicism and Unschooling meet. Monday, October 6, 2008. On the Christian Education of Youth. Christian Education of Youth by Pope Pius XI. This quote, and this encyclical, has been used as an argument against unschooling. What is interesting is that Suzie Andres, in her book. On Catholic unschooling, uses this and similar quotes from the encyclical, to promote her understanding of why unschooling. Be a choice for Catholic homeschoolers. Great post, Leonie.
