This is the last weekend to see the quilt exhibit ’Workt by Hand’: Hidden Labor and Historical Quilts” at the Brooklyn Museum, and I highly recommend it. For the love of craft. Artist to Watch: Quilter Sarah Nishiura. September 10, 2013. Late last year, I wrote an article for Martha Stewart Living about Sarah Nishiura. Who taught me how to quilt. Her work is really what led me to start this blog, and it propelled my love of quilting. Craft is a way to make something out of nothing, and a way to reinvent the humble as something important, sustaining and beautiful, she writes in her artist statement. The Martha Stewart Living article is below. Artist to Wat...

http://lulubirdquilts.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
Sunday, December 20, 2009. I really enjoyed making it! Thursday, December 3, 2009. We got the Tannerville. Window decorated for Christmas! I turned the coat rack into a Christmas tree. I made 350 leaves and wired them onto a wire base. Yes! I am insane, but sometimes when you have a vision you just have to go with it. Every time. I look at it I smile. I added the pair of birds because I have become a little obsessed with birds. Just wait for the spring window. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). A quilt is nice.
