Bringing Home the World

Wednesday, 28 December 2016. Russian Pelmeni and Tomato Lentil Ragout. Russia (and also Ukraine and Eastern Europe in general) is no exception to this rule. Pelmeni are bite size dumplings, filled with ground beef typically, but I prefer ground chicken. For a quick weeknight supper, I prefer to use the handmade pelmeni by Marina's Cuisine. Which is sold at the Italian Centre. The chicken inside is chewy, with hints of vinegar and onion. Delicious. Posted by Sky McLaughlin. Thursday, 22 December 2016.

Bringing Home the World: July 2014

http://bringinghometheworld.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html

Thursday, 17 July 2014. Little Girls, Kites, and Those Things You Ride On. As the sun softens and falls to mid-point in the Edmonton summer sky, we head over to the park for our nightly kite flying fun. Our little girl usually runs off the last of her energy by getting tangled up in the spool of thread and running for her Dad's kite when it lands in the grass. But then this morning, I turned on the computer. And I know that I didn't need a camera last night. For there was an image staring out at ...Wedne...

Bringing Home the World: March 2014

Saturday, 22 March 2014. Lightening Never Strikes Twice. Thursday night I was saying to my husband that we should move to Kabul so that I can get back to doing what I really love - rebuilding education systems. I said to him, "We can live in the Serena, it's safe there.". I don't think so,". No, it's a fortress with those huge walls. Lightening never strikes twice, so they're not going to go attack it again.". He takes his phone into the shower with him so he never misses a thing), says:. I don't know&#4...

Bringing Home the World: October 2011

http://bringinghometheworld.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html

Saturday, 15 October 2011. An Egyptian woman in a traditional Bedouin niqab adorned with coins and amulets. A woman from Bethlehem adorned in her bridal jewellery. An late 19th century Bedouin woman adorned in ethnic silver jewellery. A piece I picked up on my recent trip to Jordan. See the five dangling bits, symbolic of Islam's Five Pillars? I love the sound it makes when I walk. So peaceful. These colours have been part of desert jewellery for over 2,000 years. As the centuries have passed and the wor...

Psalm 126:3

Bringing Home Will - June, 2008. Saturday, September 6, 2008. For those of you who can't be at the reception tonight:. Sunday, July 13, 2008. So, I figured I'd post again, to make sure everyone knew we'd gotten home safely, after an exceedingly long day of travel. Will's got new adjustments to make (yet another new place for the poor kid), and our normal routine will take awhile to sort out, but all-in-all, we're all just thrilled to be back home, and together as a family. Four-year-old, Abbey was amazing.
