Nick and Erik Go Broke in 90 Days

Wednesday, November 12, 2008. The End of the Beginning. I've been finding it difficult to write a concluding post to our trip around the world. Conclusions are tricky. Though I felt that "Poor Career Moves" was a solid entry, I still need a true ending. Which brings me back to here. After 14 weeks of traveling we caught our last flight from La Guardia to Charlotte. We made it home. We successfully adventured around the globe (distant cheers across the stadium). The point I'm trying to make is Erik and I ...

Nick and Erik Go Broke in 90 Days: When in Rome

http://www.brokein90days.blogspot.com/2008/10/when-in-rome.html

Saturday, October 11, 2008. So we arrived in Pisa and stayed at a nice bed and breakfast. The place had a guitar! It was amazing. we stayed in that night and just played guitar. We hadn't played any music since being in a bamboo hut in Thailand. We started to write a song and talked about playing out again when we got home- "chasing steve" is back. you might want to reserve tickets in advance. Anyway, Pisa has this big tower and it leans. That, about it. I just hope I remember the art. It was definitely ...

Monday, October 6, 2008. I apologize if some of you were dissapointed with Nick's last post- explaining his problems with post cards. I just read it and feel like I need to do some updating on where we are. And once the Berlin wall came down and the city was completely capitalist (HELL YEAH! It was all cool stuff. The best part of Germany was probably the wieght i was finally able to gain back after our journey through Asia. And not having to haggle with someone any time you want to buy something!

Nick and Erik Go Broke in 90 Days: So Euro

http://www.brokein90days.blogspot.com/2008/10/so-euro.html

Wednesday, October 22, 2008. Erik and I are currently in England. Leeds to be exact. For the last five weeks we have been traveling through Europe. In those five weeks I've noticed a visual trend in my European peers. A peculiar visual genre or look. A cross between Emo and Metro. Something I'd like to call 'Euro.'. Here are three main characteristics of the 'Euro' trend. The keystone pieces of the Euro culture. 1 The Euro Scarf. Rock god), Snoopy. A beagle), and maybe Luke Skywalker. Or so I thought.

Sunday, August 31, 2008. Things we lost to the Namsong. We are in Laos right now. We spent the last two days kayaking and tubing down the Namsong river with some friends we met trekking. Right now though, I'd like to list the things we lost in the Namsong. 1 My sandal (singular). If you happen to see a drunk guy with one black sandal.its probably mine. 2 Our bank cards (luckily, we have backups). 3 Kip (Laos money). 3 2 Wallets (containing said bank cards and kip). 5 My necklace (sorry mom). After the ra...

So this is life...: March 2008

http://janelblanchard.blogspot.com/2008_03_01_archive.html

So this is life. Monday, March 24, 2008. The Commercialization of Entertainment and the Entertainment Value of Commercials. I haven't blogged for a few weeks because I've been thinking; sorry. Become dependent on the entertainment value of the marketing piece. I'm watching a commercial with a piece of toast.  Bud Light has created a hilarious commercial utilizing the f word. The Local Rockstar: August 2009

http://thelocalrockstar.blogspot.com/2009_08_01_archive.html

Sunday, August 30, 2009. This update is mainly for the Non-californian readers. This is a shot from Pasadena, about 5 miles away from the blaze on Friday. This is from the 101 Highway about 30 - 40 miles away from the fire. You can see the width of the smoke from this shot, and even this shot doesn't capture the magnitude of the smoke column. Lastly, here is a video from the AP that shows some closer images. Only 5% contained; scary. Monday, August 17, 2009. That's it for now. I am getting anxious wa...

The Local Rockstar: June 2009

http://thelocalrockstar.blogspot.com/2009_06_01_archive.html

Monday, June 29, 2009. I just typed up a bunch of stuff to share in my exciting return to blogging, and lost it all. And now i just don't care enough to do it. Sad but true. Tomorrow I hope to return with what should be a informing and exciting post. Monday, June 1, 2009. North Carolina, cmon and RAISE UP! I walked around UNC's campus yesterday. I forgot how pretty it is; the grass is so green and huge trees everywhere. Definitely don't get that in LA very often. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

The Local Rockstar: May 2009

http://thelocalrockstar.blogspot.com/2009_05_01_archive.html

Sunday, May 24, 2009. So I haven't posted in a while, thought I should update my dozens of faithful readers. Things have been awesome. I will enumerate them:. 2) NEW MUSIC: As promised, I will have my 9-track debut CD available in about two weeks. I should finish my part in the next day or two of mixing, and Nick Burns has created some awesome artwork. After that, we send it off and wait for it to get back to us! Saturday, May 16, 2009. So this is life...: September 2008

http://janelblanchard.blogspot.com/2008_09_01_archive.html

So this is life. Tuesday, September 16, 2008. To be or to be more? This perpetual grass-is-always-greener phenomenon gets old after a while, and presents to others a sort of problematic instability. A homeowner today said if she were me, she'd "go [live in Europe] in a heartbeat." I would have said the same thing to anybody who was in my position, but I can't just go in a heartbeat. I have student loans; I owe my parents money; I need money to live. I would need a job before I moved to Europe. Now, what ...

So this is life. Sunday, January 27, 2008. Welcome Home to Me! And notes on believing. Driving home on Friday night, back to NC from DC after my last day of work, I knew this was the right decision.  There's definitely something nice about knowing you're doing the right thing. =) I'm so glad to be home! That the only thing that matters is knowing God as revealed in Jesus, the Messiah. If I really understood that truth, it'd be phenomenal. Monday, January 21, 2008. http://janelblanchard.blogspot.com/2008_05_01_archive.html

So this is life. Thursday, May 29, 2008. This is Rather Pathetic. So, no post because I've been busy.  It's a busyness of the self-inflicted kind.  And I haven't thought of much to write.  Actually, that's not true. I've thought of some things but I haven't taken the time to expound. I'm watching "Ice Age 2" and I think a baby mammoth is pretty much the cutest animated thing I've ever seen. 160;What are we headed towards and are we doing what we need to do to get there? http://janelblanchard.blogspot.com/2008_07_01_archive.html

So this is life. Thursday, July 31, 2008. If Life is Always Spent Preparing, What Does That Mean About Death? Okay, so maybe that title is a wee melodramatic. Maybe that's because I'M pretty melodramatic. I was just contemplating how in every stage of life, I look ahead. What does this job mean for my resume? If I sign this lease, what am I committing myself to? But maybe I'm completely wrong. Maybe even the times in the wilderness are part of "really living." Just because it ain't exciting doesn...So as...

So this is life...: December 2008

http://janelblanchard.blogspot.com/2008_12_01_archive.html

So this is life. Friday, December 12, 2008. I am sorry, but I have a good excuse. So oftentimes, when I go on a fun trip or have a lot going on at once, I don't get a chance to journal. The night after said period, I have so much to write and think and pray about that my arm gets tired and I quit temporarily. Hopefully that won't happen now, as I try to update this neglected blog. At 5pm, I met with two senior vice presidents at ESPN. This meeting was fantastic. They brainstormed about who they c...The n...
