jason evans: No Such Thing As Atheism - David Foster Wallace
http://blog.digitaljasonevans.com/2011/11/no-such-thing-as-atheism-david-foster.html
No Such Thing As Atheism - David Foster Wallace. They're the kind of worship you just gradually slip into, day after day, getting more and more selective about what you see and how you measure value without ever being fully aware that that's what you're doing. That is real freedom. That is being educated, and understanding how to think. The alternative is unconsciousness, the default setting, the rat race, the constant gnawing sense of having had, and lost, some infinite thing. Why am I an Episcopalian?

jason evans: A New Thing | Jane Gerdsen
http://blog.digitaljasonevans.com/2015/04/a-new-thing-jane-gerdsen.html
A New Thing Jane Gerdsen. This week, for the A New Thing series. I'm happy to have The Rev. Jane Gerdsen. Jane is an Episcopal priest who served for five years at St. Andrew’s, an inner city church in Dayton, OH. She is currently working as Missioner for Fresh Expressions for the Diocese of Southern Ohio. Can you describe your new thing? What drew you to do this? I was on maternity leave with my oldest child, and my husband says I birthed more than a baby that summer! Something about stepping away from r...

jason evans: Jesus, The Good Crossing Guard
http://blog.digitaljasonevans.com/2015/04/jesus-good-crossing-guard.html
Jesus, The Good Crossing Guard. For those that follow the lectionary schedule. This Sunday we read the passage in John 10. Where Jesus refers to himself as the "good shepherd." Last Tuesday, as is our custom, our team at work read the Gospel passage for the following Sunday. For nearly a week, I've been mulling over this passage and heard preachers offer their thoughts yesterday. But this week. I just kept thinking about the "good shepherd." Couldn't shake it. And he wasn't white. Shepherding was a thank...

jason evans: A New Thing | a new blog series
http://blog.digitaljasonevans.com/2015/04/a-new-thing-new-blog-series.html
A New Thing a new blog series. I had a lot of fun writing the "Liturgy for Lent". Series with Mike Angell. So, I've decided to do another one! I'm launching a new blog series today called, "A New Thing." It's spring time. We just celebrated new life in Jesus' resurrection this Easter Sunday. Seems an appropriate time for a series with this title. I'm also involved in a new thing, a faith community. Over the last couple of years, I've come to know Kevin Lum, founding pastor of The Table. jason evans: The Good Samaritan, Trayvon Martin & George Zimmerman
http://blog.digitaljasonevans.com/2013/07/the-good-samaritan-trayvon-martin.html
The Good Samaritan, Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman. Yesterday, I had the opportunity of preaching at St. Bartholomew's. In Laytonsville, MD. The Gospel reading for the day was Luke 10:25-37, the story of the Good Samaritan. I won't bore you with the details of the passage since most of you are likely familiar with it and if not you can read it. For yourself. But I will share with you what stood out to me as I was preparing my sermon. It takes a community. We meet God through the other. Notice that t...

http://blog.digitaljasonevans.com/2007/07/heading-home.html
So, we head back home later today (it's about midnight right now). We've had a great time. Tonight, we had dinner with the Ryan, Holly, Lisa, Katie, Joel, Eliot and baby Pax. It's always good to be with people you can just pick up where you left off. We got to visit the Edible Schoolyard in Berkley. Today, which was awesome. Brooke is really inspired to possibly implement somethings back home. We discovered Golden Gate Park for the first time, visited Amoeba Records. And I made the clip though). Each mon...

jason evans: We Need More Than Selfies!
http://blog.digitaljasonevans.com/2014/07/we-need-more-than-selfies.html
We Need More Than Selfies! A couple weeks ago, I posted. A "selfie"in support of the "Share the Journey" campaign created by Episcopal Migration Ministries. Why did I do this? Because I like to make silly faces in photos. At least, that's what my daughter has decided. But, seriously, I did this because as Rev. Gay Clark Jennings recently wrote. But we need more than selfies. If you are interested in joining me get in touch. Here's a bit of what I wrote this week:. When 52,000 child refugees cross the bor...
