Celery Slaw | Foodie Lawyer
http://foodielawyer.com/2012/02/celery-slaw
Less law-talking, more cooking. By Mrs. FoodieLawyer. For the Super Bowl this year, we served one of our bar-food-at-home favorites, grilled wings. Seemed a bit too fancy for wings and football, and we thought this flavorful hot and sour slaw. Would compete with the flavor of the wings a bit too much. Instead, we combined elements of each into a lighter, sweet-yet-tangy coleslaw with tons of celery flavor. Win, win. Grandma Mary apparently had a sweet tooth.) The slaw ingredients include celery, radi...

Less law-talking, more cooking. By Mrs. FoodieLawyer. We adapted this recipe from one of Ina Garten’s wonderful cookbooks, “ Barefoot Contessa – Back to Basics. Preheat the oven to 350 degrees. Drizzle some olive oil on a cookie sheet and stir in the potatoes. After they are coated in olive oil, spread out the potatoes in a single layer, with most of them cut-side down (skin-side up), so that they will brown nicely. Recipe is to substitute leeks for fennel bulbs, just because we love leeks. In this d...

Grilled Corn | Foodie Lawyer
http://foodielawyer.com/2011/07/grilled-corn
Less law-talking, more cooking. By Mrs. FoodieLawyer. Start by chopping off the pointy ends of the corn cobbs and soaking them (with the husks still on) in water for about half an hour. Soaking the ears first allows the corn to steam a bit on the grill and prevents it from burning. Next, grill the corn over medium heat for about 30-40 minutes total. Turn the corn several times to ensure that it cooks evenly. After the corn has rested, pull back the husks (carefully – they are still hot! Leave one →.

Hot and Sour Coleslaw | Foodie Lawyer
http://foodielawyer.com/2011/06/hot-and-sour-coleslaw
Less law-talking, more cooking. Hot and Sour Coleslaw. By Mrs. FoodieLawyer. Dan recently decided he wanted to make homemade coleslaw, which to me just seemed like a lot of work for minimal return on the effort. Why go to all that trouble chopping everything and mixing up a dressing when you can just buy a tub of coleslaw at the grocery store? Coleslaw is coleslaw, right? The ingredients are simple: cabbage, carrots, green onions, cider vinegar, ginger, crushed red pepper flakes, sugar and salt. For the ...

Fish Tacos | Foodie Lawyer

Less law-talking, more cooking. By Mrs. FoodieLawyer. Dan is crazy for fish tacos. He has tried them at pretty much every restaurant that serves them, and it has been his ongoing quest to find the very best fish tacos in Dallas. We had never made them at home, but after seeing a show with “Sam the Cooking Guy” preparing this recipe. Take one of the chiles out of the can (or 2 if you dare — they are very spicy! Then finely chop it. Add the chopped chile and about a teaspoon of the adobo sauce from the can...
