50 Things I want to do Before I Die. Saturday, August 4, 2012. 47 Plant 100 Trees - The First. The first tree of the 100 I want to plant before I die. Rachel on Mother's Day. 50 Take a Cruise - Done! When I got an invitation to go on a bachelorette cruise, I jumped at the chance. Not only did it satisfy #50 on my list, but I got to know a friend better, make some new ones, and step outside my comfort zone. After a panicked renewal of my passport, we were off to Canada on a bus. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Not only did it satisfy #50 on my list, but I got to know a friend better, make some new ones, and step outside my comfort zone. After a panicked renewal of my passport, we were off to Canada on a bus. View of the docks from the ship. The cruise ship was ridiculously ornate, in a fun way. Bench by elevator on each level.

Childhood Part II: November 2012
http://crumpled-uppromise.blogspot.com/2012_11_01_archive.html
Having a kid is a great excuse to stop acting like an adult. Thursday, November 29, 2012. I'm determined to have Rachel love Christmas as much as I do! She doesn't remember much about last year except for the tree, which is admittedly one of the best parts. I decided to make a countdown chain with her to build up excitement and found quite a few learning opportunities in the process. Step 2: Make Christmas special. I had Rachel decorate a card stock strip with stars stickers to represent Christmas day.

Having a kid is a great excuse to stop acting like an adult. Saturday, August 18, 2012. Rachel and I stumbled across an old playground just off one of the nature trails only a 5 minute toddler walk away from our house. Unfortunately a tree had fallen on it and it was filthy from misuse. Fortunately it was not structurally damaged and with a little TLC could be made useable again. Playground - Day 1. Rachel - Cleaning the Slide. No need to bring Brandon or a saw. Mold on the Playground.

Having a kid is a great excuse to stop acting like an adult. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. The long stretch of rainy weather has been forcing me to expand our normal indoor activities. A huge source of fun is the bath tub. We can play until baby toes are wrinkled and the water is getting cold: a good hour, which is very long in the toddler attention span. Our first game involved chasing colored ice cubes around the tub. Source: http:/ www.mommysavers.com/2010/09/frugal-bathtime-fun-for-baby/.

Better Not Worse: February 2012

They say marriage is for better or worse. Well, I choose better. Saturday, February 11, 2012. I believe that the key to a happy home is the proper balance of individual, couple, and family time. It is hard to find that balance with two working parents, opposite sleep schedules, and a little one to watch. So I implemented bi-weekly family dinners, a weekly mini date night at home after Rachel goes to bed, a big monthly date, and a weekly family outing. We had our supplies in hand. Snacks: check. Nothing s...

They say marriage is for better or worse. Well, I choose better. Saturday, September 14, 2013. In Spite Of It All. My cousin wrote a beautiful post. About learning to love her husband forever. I love her honesty and rawness. She knows she has faults and is just so.human. She isn't presenting some idealized version of herself for the world to see. She owns up to her anger and temper-tantrums. I think it is brilliant and courageous. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). In Spite Of It All.
Better Not Worse: You're Going Down!

They say marriage is for better or worse. Well, I choose better. Wednesday, June 6, 2012. Nothing spices up a marriage like some good, old fashioned competition! Brandon and I took advantage of my in-law's visit to go on a little bowling date. Aren't we cute? Every time I bowl with him, I remember back to freshman year of college when I vowed never to bowl with him again. He got soooo mad when he screwed up a shot! Thankfully he now laughs at gutter balls and I've retracted my vow. June 7, 2012 at 7:28 AM.

Sunday, October 3, 2010. Onion Soup with Apple Cider. Today is the epitome of what I like to call a "Soup Day". When the weather turns brisk, fresh apple cider abounds and you're in the mood for a belly-warmer, this soup is darn near perfect. I don't recall where I found the original recipe (maybe Bon Appetit? Onion Soup with Apple Cider. 4 T unsalted butter. 3 T olive oil. 6 large onions (3-4 if using very large Vidalia or sweet onions), halved and thinly sliced. 2 ½ C apple cider.
