What Then? | Thoughts on the Edge (of Town)

Thoughts on the Edge (of Town). June 21, 2015. Last week we talked a bit about paying attention to wisdom, God’s wisdom not our own, as the smart play. God leads us to be wise because it helps to keep us out of the trouble we manage to get ourselves into. And when we do get into trouble, and we all admit that we do on occasion, we were created by and serve a God of second chances. Good deal. What then shall we make of the words of wisdom that seems to contradict what we know to be otherwise? Probably not...

August 16, 2015. In response to The Daily Post’s writing prompt: “Regrets, I’ve Had a Few.”. Anyone that has read my blog in the past, knows I have many regrets in my life. So many that most would think I would have a hard time picking what my biggest regret might be. Not the case. Easily, my biggest regret in life is not going to college right after high school. I have kicked around the idea of going back to college, even enrolling a couple of times. I tried a couple of classes this summer to no ava...

A blog about knitting, pretty wool and life in general! Running out of wool. August 14, 2015. August 14, 2015. This week has been a mixture of good and bad. The good part is that I finished the first sleeve for the burgundy jumper, wahoo! It looks good eh! I folded it so you can see the top and bottom of it which are the most interesting bits. However, when I went to my stash to get more wool to make the next sleeve, this is what I found:. I only have three small balls left! Had she gone out of business?

The Poisoned Parrot – The Voices of PTSD

The Voices of PTSD. A Mental Health Blog. How does Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Change the Brain? 8220;Imagine you’re given a parrot. This parrot is just a parrot – it doesn’t have any knowledge, wisdom or insight. It’s bird-brained after all. It recites things ‘parrot fashion’ without any understanding or comprehension. It’s a parrot. No way. Just can’t do it. Useless. Waste of space. Absolutely pathetic! Yet we can often put up with the thoughts from this internal bully for far too long. Decades&...

The Voices of PTSD. A Mental Health Blog. How does Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Change the Brain? So, I’ve found a new therapy, dog therapy! All you need is a furry friend. It sounds silly I know, but recently I am beginning to realise that my two dogs really help. I have two huskies, one is a Siberian husky and the other an Alaskan Husky. Meet Nero and Loki…. They are crazy, energetic and cute. Also some of the best friends you could have. Also hugging a big fluffy husky is lovely. Dogs are amazing cr...

NAPAC – The Voices of PTSD

The Voices of PTSD. A Mental Health Blog. How does Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Change the Brain? I wanted to write a short blog entry regarding this charity; it focuses on supporting adults who were subjected to abuse as a child. My psychologist recommended looking at this website. At first I was sceptical, I have looked at several websites and found they did not help at all, I seemed to spend a lot of time looking at what abuse causes in adulthood and ticking them off as I go. It seemed to actually.

The Voices of PTSD. A Mental Health Blog. How does Post Traumatic Stress Disorder Change the Brain? You just need to be happy. Killing yourself is just selfish. You should be happy, you have. Need to realise your lucky. Think of people living in third world countries. Just need to pull yourself together. Just lift yourself up. 8220;Just think of happy things”. You’ll get over it. You should be happy, your so lucky. All these statements (and more I can’t think of) seem to believe there is a choice. The pe...
