My adventures through the Burgh. The Allegheny County Courthouse and Jail. October 7, 2011. The Allegheny County Courthouse is by far the most impressive building I have seen in Pittsburgh so far. Standing among skyscrapers and other modern buildings, you will not be able to miss the 1888, Renaissance style building with its Romanesque details. The jail closed in 1995, but the building is nowadays used for the juvenile and family sections of the Common Pleas Court. August 25, 2011. Nienke on The Arrival.
