Busingers on Borneo

Sunday, April 10, 2011. 0604-10.04. Kuching, Sarawak (7 of 7). We had no problems finding things to do for our last 4 days in Kuching. The charming, stylish city itself would easily keep you busy for two-three days and in close distance, there are several interesting attractions of which we visited two, the Bako National Park and Sarawak cultural village. As we arrived to the park (by boat only) the low tide was just setting in. This invited the Proboscis Monkeys to come down from the forest and feed...

Friday, April 1, 2011. 2903-01.04. Miri and the Niah Caves, Sarawak (5 of 7). On Tuesday, 29.3. we took the plane from Lahad Datu's tiny airport to Kota Kinabalu, where we stayed for another night - just enough to enjoy the Filipino BBQ market one last time. We left Sabah on the next day, flying to Miri in Sarawak. Our main reason for a stop in Miri was a visit to the Niah Caves. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Links to other Blogs. Thursday, March 24, 2011. 2303-24.03. Sandakan and Turtle Island, Sabah (2 of 7). While laying eggs, the turtles are in some kind of trance and do not feel disturbed. Even if the time that you can actually spend watching the turtle is very short, it was a very special experience being so close to her. Later we could go down to the beach watching the rangers letting the day’s newly hatched baby-turtles free. The Kids loved it and Alma has a new favourite animal! Subscribe to: Posts (Atom).

Tuesday, March 29, 2011. 2703-29.03. Danum Valley, Sabah (4 of 7). More wildlife to come. Year and since march was not a harvesting month, we could not witness the collecting (but would get the opportunity later on in Sarawak). Well, Swiftlets are not the only flying inhabitants of the Gomantong caves. Sharing the space with the birds are about 3 million bats! Arriving in Lahad Datu, it was time to say good-bye to Saat from Borneo Eco Tours, who had been guiding us for the last four days. Butterflies and...

Busingers in Singapore: June 2011

http://busingersinsingapore.blogspot.com/2011_06_01_archive.html

Saturday, June 25, 2011. Finally, the summer holidays have arrived! This spring's weekend highlights were a visit to the Art Science Museum, where we looked at the van Gogh Alive! Exhibition, a huge multi-media show about the life and works of the famous artist. We also went to see the Lion King. Which all of us liked very much. Both costumes and set design as well as the beautiful songs were simply great. Another highlight happened in early June, when we went to see Cirque Eloize iD. And yes, Oskar also...

http://busingersinsingapore.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html

Thursday, November 25, 2010. Our first visit to Bintan. Bintan is the weekend getaway of Singapore. It is only 1h by high speed catamaran, has nice sandy beaches, shady palms and (quite) clear water. So we decided to go there for a weekend. It is actually a part of indonesia, however, the northern bit of the island is called " Bintan Beach International Resort. We went for Dinner in a nice Thai restaurant that belonged to the same hotel chain and went to bed soon. Stay warm enough, so nothing prevents yo...

Busingers in Singapore: September 2010

http://busingersinsingapore.blogspot.com/2010_09_01_archive.html

Tuesday, September 21, 2010. Last week at Wilby and moving to Trevose Park. Over the last weeks we have met many people at our temporary housing at Wilby Residences and made new friends, be it at or in the pool or while waiting for the school bus. Good that in Singapore nobody lives much more than 30 minutes away, so moving does not prevent from meeting each other in the future. Talking of friends. this week we were very glad to get our first visitors from Europe. Dropped by for dinner and a nice chat.

http://busingersinsingapore.blogspot.com/2011_08_01_archive.html

Thursday, August 18, 2011. Summer Holidays in Finland. This summer holiday was rather short for some of us ,Michel only had 10 days, while Camilla and the children would spend 6 weeks in Finland. New bed with extra storage. Posing at the beac. Much to the delight of Alma, we had Stampi the rabbit visiting us this summer who, like this escaped a less fortunate ending. Our furry summer guest. In July the blue berries were getting ripe. That's always a good reason to go for a stroll through the woods. Home ...

Busingers in Singapore: A long weekend in Hongkong

http://busingersinsingapore.blogspot.com/2012/10/a-long-weekend-in-hongkong.html

Tuesday, October 30, 2012. A long weekend in Hongkong. Some weeks ago we decided to do a short trip to Hong Kong over the Hari Raja Haji weekend in October. This city really has it all. Chinese style bamboo scaffolding. A mountain peak just about as high as the highest (over 100 storey) sky scrapers. Budhist temples with beautifully detailed interiors. And nice smelling incensce sticks in the roof. The highest number of sky scrapers in the world. Glass buildings in almost all colors of the rainbow.

Busingers i Kina

Friday, April 27, 2012. Oskar tve...

Busingers in China

Friday, April 27, 2012. The long way home. And so, at the end of our trip, we had a few setbacks too. Summarized our trip home looked like this:. After 7 hours of waiting in a cold airport, one cancelled flight. The next day the canelled flight isn't cancelled anymore, only has a 2-hour delay. Due to the canelled flight, two missed flights. Several hours of discussions with a not very cooperative chinese airline to change our "missed-flight-tickets". Somewhere in between a night with a sick child.

Busingers in Thailand and Laos 2009. Saturday, January 16, 2010. Siem Reap (11.-14. January 2010). After leaving on January 10 from Vang Vieng to Ventiane, we arrived there in the afternoon after a 4h bumpy and curvy ride.Ventiane, the capital of Laos was not very inspiring, especially on a sunday when halv of the city is closed. We went to bed decently early as we had to get the taxi to the airport @ 05:00 next morning. We had the flight at 0650 from Ventiane via Pakse to Siam Reap in Cambodia,. Middle ...
