About | Butter and Sprinkles

https://butterandsprinkles.wordpress.com/about

Adventures in Culinary Studies. I’m Dawn, the lady behind Butter and Sprinkles. By day, I’m a research assistant, as well as a social worker/therapist for individuals with eating disorders. By night, I’m a culinary student pursuing a certificate in baking and pastry arts with absolutely no clue where it will lead! Cupcakes, and all things pink, and have learned that the older I get, the more girly I become! Want to know more? Follow me on Facebook. You can also sign up. December 16, 2013 at 2:39 pm.

Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies | Butter and Sprinkles

Adventures in Culinary Studies. Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies. February 3, 2014. A new month, with a cute holiday, and the hope that Spring weather is just around the corner! Winter in Michigan (and nationwide! Has been rough this year. Lots of below freezing temps, several feet of snow, gloomy days and, my personal nemesis, longer nights. The one good thing: edible goodies in the mailbox are preserved! Alex, of Yums and Loves. Nutella Chocolate Chip Cookies. Source: Yums and Loves. 5 Using a spoon or c...

Triple Chocolate Thin Mint Muffins | Butter and Sprinkles

https://butterandsprinkles.wordpress.com/2014/04/09/thin-mint-muffins

Adventures in Culinary Studies. Triple Chocolate Thin Mint Muffins. April 9, 2014. Thin mints *and* junior mints in a muffin? I am behind on things. Again. These muffins were from the lovely Stephanie at Steph’s Bite by Bite. For our March Bakin’ Friend’s group. How she came up with the idea to put both thin mints and junior mints in a muffin, I will never know, but it was genius! With so much chocolate and mint, they tasted more like a dessert, but I still ate them for breakfast! 1/4 cup chocolate chips.

Cream Puffs | Butter and Sprinkles

https://butterandsprinkles.wordpress.com/2014/12/10/cream-puffs

Adventures in Culinary Studies. December 10, 2014. Cream puffs, sadly, are one of those desserts that I disliked as a child. Clearly, I had bad taste because cream puffs are light, fluffy, round puff balls of deliciousness. And they were crazy simple to make. Even when I thought I had messed them up, they came out beautifully. And, if yours do like mine did and deflate, you can just use those as taste testers! Makes 16 large cream puffs or 32 small ones. 1 cup (8 ounces, 240 ml) water. Large pinch of salt.

Buttercream Wedding Cake | Butter and Sprinkles

https://butterandsprinkles.wordpress.com/2014/02/17/buttercream-wedding-cake

Adventures in Culinary Studies. February 17, 2014. Things are starting to get real around here. This cake was made of three tiers: 3″, 6″ and 9″. We all learned quite rapidly that a 3″ cake is ridiculously difficult to cover. Imagine frosting two cupcakes stacked on top of each other, as that was basically what it was structurally. Not fun! Butter and Sprinkles: New Address

http://butterandsprinkles.blogspot.com/2012/09/new-address.html

Thursday, September 13, 2012. Yup, I've already decided to move the blog. I had been reading a lot of recent blog tip posts from some of the foodie blogs I follow and it got me thinking. There's no way to know how popular this blog will be, or if I'll enjoy it years from now, though I would like to think so. But I have to plan for the future either way. So, enough chit-chat! I've moved the blog over to wordpress. Please update your links and join me over there. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom).

Crunchy, Healthy Granola. One of my favorite things on the breakfast menus here in Sydney are definitely all the million different granola/fruit/yoghurt combinations, and I’m always super inspired to see all the various ingredients the chefs pair together. Butter & Sugar

Wednesday, February 22, 2012. I've finished a table runner. This is the only project I've ever designed myself, down to researching quotes and songs about Virginia until I found the one that seemed just right. And the birds are still merrily singing away. Tuesday, December 13, 2011. I've had to edit my Christmas stitching list down to only a very few items for lack of time, but I'm happy to say I finished three of them recently. Spring Walks and Almond Pancakes. On Mar 31, 2013 2 Comments. The first blooms of jasmine kind of make me want to stay in California forever. I love how spring comes alive in a tidal rush here. It’s so different from the trickle of crocus that would spread slowly across our New York garden. I still haven’t quite figured out gardening on our shaded terrace, but I will. Recipe slightly adapted from Comfy Tummy. 1 1/2 cups almond meal (or blanched almond flour). 1/2 tsp baking powder. 1/4 cup almond milk.
