Medical adventures with the Himalayan Rescue Association. We have had at least a dozen evacuations so far, the first helicopter rescue within a day of opening in September. Several different commercial helicopter agencies compete in the region to evacuate sick trekkers. Because of the money involved most evacuations are arranged by the guides and lodge owners, some of whom receive a commission for preferring a specific company.
