Design Practice: Pen type?
http://c-riley0811-dp.blogspot.com/2010/12/pen-type.html
I tried quickly making type out of my drawings to see how it would look. I actually wish I had factored this into the brief so that I could hav given myself time to produce it at a higher quality and give me an interesting typeface print for my portfolio. Alas, I didn't factor the time in for it but it is something i could develop in the future. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. The Cockpit poster comp. Design Practice: Vectors
http://c-riley0811-dp.blogspot.com/2010/12/vectors.html
I tried quickly vectorising some of the pens to see if this would 'add anything'. I really don't think it did, if anything it made them look worse. I feel that the hand drawn quality is a strong point of this brief so far. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. The Cockpit poster comp. Contextual and Theoretical Studies. Design Practice: Final proposed prints
http://c-riley0811-dp.blogspot.com/2010/12/final-proposed-prints.html
I chose to use the texture/pattern from the inside of an envelope as the background. This isn't because it has any particular relevance to post, so to speak. It is to make it look less flat. I briefly had a look on the ever popular - Lovelypackage.com for some inspiration; at an initial glance, the following packaging designs stood out to me;. Wicked energy drink, designed by War Design, illustrations by Kian Forreal. The illustrator that War Design collaborated with on this design is actually a tattoo artist (which is pretty evident from the style of illustration), however, I really like how something that would typically be body art has been transferred on to a drinks can. I gathered inspiration for magazine layouts from various sources. Here are a selection:. I'm not sure if this was printed this way, but I like the idea of using a coloured stock and just using black ink. The main reason I chose this, was not specifically for the layout.but I really like the way that the page numbers are highlighted. The main inspiration I took from this magazine layout, what having the text quite small the the bottom and the main focus on the image / content at the top of the page. The k...

Design Context: Existing swing tags
http://c-riley0811-dc.blogspot.com/2010/12/existing-swing-tags.html
This isn't a bag for a clothing label, its actually for eastpak bags but its an example of how much information can be put into a tag. Its quite a big tag that might be too overpowering for a t-shirt but it still works well. Paper scissor stone swing tag - very very simple but it gets the message across. The branding, the name of the t-shirt, the size and the price. Subscribe to: Post Comments (Atom). View my complete profile. Contextual and Theoretical Studies. Sixpack france swing tag.

Truly beautifully crafted image. It was really refereshing to find illustrations that are photorealistic - as this is a way that I like to work. I hope to find more examples in the future. Berrie's work is so delicate but still quite crisp and clear. I also love her architectural drawings. Labels: I heart.Mixtape. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
