Caleb's Eye III. A Spy's Notes on the Judges. 2 The War of Occupation. But there was another reason why the army would have marched close to the wall: the people in the city had to be able to hear. It is no use looking for a physical cause for the walls falling down. Perhaps there was an earthquake just at that moment. Caleb's Eye III. A Spy's Notes on the Judges. 214 Judges 3:7-11, 19:1-28. 4 Othniel (Judges 3:7-11). That Othniel was closely related to Caleb is not surprising. There was a strong spiritual influence and commitment among this clan in Judah, stronger than in other clans in Israel. Othniel was the only judge from the tribe of Judah, but there were others who were not judges that had a certain spiritual prominence, as we shall see. 5 Gibeah’s Crime (Judges 19). Caleb's Eye III. A Spy's Notes on the Judges. 206 Joshua 8 – 9. IV B 2. continued. C) The Second Battle of Ai (Joshua 8:1-29). The king of Ai was hanged on a tree until sunset to symbolize God’s curse. Ai was burned to the ground and never rebuilt. Bethel, on the other hand, continued to exist as a city so it was not burned down. The passage does not indicate how many of the people of Bethel were killed but we should probably assume the worst. D) Mt Gerizim and Mt. Ebal (Joshua 8:30 – 35). You are commen...

Caleb's Eye III. A Spy's Notes on the Judges. 1 The Age of Joshua. The next few pages discuss the invasion of Canaan by Israel under the leadership of Joshua. A Spy's Journey through Genesis. 03 Genesis 1-2 part 3. I A 2 continued. The Image of God (Genesis. 27 and 2:7,19,20). These understandings arise from predispositions that come from culture or upbringing or personal bias; with no clear cut definition given in the Scripture it is natural to understand the image of God in terms of what we value the most. But suppose we were to look for hints from the Bible itself as to what it means to be in God’s image? One possibility is that when He separated the light ...

A Spy's Journey through Genesis. 04 Genesis 1-2 part 4. I A 2 b) continued. But the image of God comes in a particular context: dust. We were created out of the dust of the earth and that dust is as much a part of who we are as the image of God is. What does it mean to be dust then?
