Darcie over coffee: a kind of mothering
http://darcieovercoffee.blogspot.com/2015/05/a-kind-of-mothering.html
Wednesday, May 20, 2015. A kind of mothering. A sweet woman from my church community slipped me a dozen home grown eggs on Mother's Day. All week John has been eating eggs- and I have been savoring a look. . . tiny, extra large, blue, brown,. Five years ago John and I visited Abigail and Nathaniel in London and there we celebrated Mothering Sunday. Bunches of spring daffodils awaited all the women that day. I love the term Mothering Sunday. Sometimes life's rolling waves crash in on one's soul- the roar ...

Darcie over coffee: surely goodness and mercy. . .
http://darcieovercoffee.blogspot.com/2015/04/surely-goodness-and-mercy.html
Saturday, April 25, 2015. Surely goodness and mercy. . . Last month some of our children and grandchildren dropped in for visits from far off places. Ahh- how I long for things to be perfect when they come- you know, perfect food, perfect sleeping arrangements, perfect weather, perfect conversation- and of course it's never perfect. But south Texas is lovely in the spring and I'm simply grateful that from time to time they find their way back. And the get to. Game- someone tossed this one into the ring:.

Darcie over coffee: January 2015
http://darcieovercoffee.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Saturday, January 31, 2015. Living His story. . . still. Seek the things that are above where Christ is. . . Set your mind on the things above-. We're cozy inside again today, watching from the window- snow swirls, brave souls step out on icy streets. I'll mix up a pot of soup from the bits and pieces in the fridge- reminds me of my life in rural Mexico, sort of. . . By Sarah Stewart. But Ivan is 2- those stories wait in the wings. I'm not the teacher anymore. . . you have to ask Coach B! Since you have ...

Darcie over coffee: night watches
http://darcieovercoffee.blogspot.com/2015/07/night-watches.html
Friday, July 31, 2015. My eyes anticipate the night watches, that I may meditate on your promise. I don't especially long for night watches - but lately sleep struggles dominate the 24 hour cycle of my life. I can grind my teeth- or like the psalmist, I can embrace wakeful nights. Last week a fan whirred in the window pulling in cool air at 2 am I sat at my desk, pale light spread over book and paper, and I listened to John's breathing in the adjoining room. Thursday, December 8, 2011. Yesterday I helped my in-laws get a few Christmas decorations up. While poking around in the Christmas closet, looking for a small floral box that contained the string and clips that have held their christmas cards on display year after year, Lucinda pulled out this or that and would comment:. Oh yes, and this is from my childhood, though I only remember there being two of them.'. If you see anything you need for your Christmas decorating, be sure to take it home with you'.

Thursday, May 2, 2013. I have been working hard to get up before Florence wakes. Which by the way has been so stinkin hard. I have found I am able to handle the days adventures if I start my morning quietly - time spent in the word, a cup of coffee without interruption and getting out my pajamas before she is up makes a world of difference. I also get to hear Florences chatter to her stuffed animals and to Mercy -who is sharing a room with Florence and kindly puts up with a great deal. I hear the birds!

Friday, September 30, 2011. I apologize ahead of time - this is going to be a long post.and I am also sorry to say that it will have no pictures of my creations, I was a bit too groggy at 5.30 this morning to remember to grab the camera to take a picture of them just out of the oven. So, this morning, the guys enjoyed giant cinnamon rolls for breakfast. I have grown in my cinnamon roll making over the last few years - gathering tips from my sisters, and my mom. 1 package of dry active yeast (2 1/2 tsp).
