Candle Lighters Childhood Cancer Organization. Friday, March 19, 2010. Before this 19 day stay she was home for a few days and spent 6 days in the hospital for aggressive chemo. During her 6 day stay she also had a stomach virus that was passed around to her Mom, Dad and sister. Candle Lighters Childhood Cancer Organization. Saturday, June 26, 2010. We're Home at Last. We were discharged from the hospital on Wednesday June 23rd. Thank God! We spent a total of 7 weeks in the hospital. The first night home Sydney screamed when she was put into her own bed. She was so used to sleeping next to me in the hospital that she thought the first night home should not be any different. So I gave in just because I was so exhausted from being at the hospital. She started an Early Childhood Music class through Texas Christian University. She sings, dances and plays musical instruments like the maraca's and bells.To my surprise she is actually quite attentive during the class. Since her doctor appointments have scaled down immensely we are getting to a point where she will have home visits from a nutritionist and speech therapist. February 10th the weather was expected to snow among other things so in order to make sure that we didn't miss Sydney's February 11th doctor appointments we spent the night in a hotel 1/2 a mile away from the hospital. Due to all of the inclement weather Sydney had her CT scan and MRI rescheduled for this week. We are extremely grateful and happy to report the doctor reported Sydney's CT scan and MRI determined that she is still CANCER FREE! Tuesday, February 1, 2011. What's New with Sydney. Candle Lighters Childhood Cancer Organization. Wednesday, January 20, 2010. Week 10 and 11. We scheduled an appointment to visit MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston for another opinion. The first time scheduled an appointment with MD Anderson we had to cancel the appointment because she was sick and in the hospital for fever and low blood counts. Candle Lighters Childhood Cancer Organization. Thursday, July 29, 2010. Sydney's 2 week hospital stay. She had a CT scan completed yesterday. The good news is that her body was tumor free. The not so good news was that the test showed fluid around her heart. We completed an Echo-cardiogram today to follow up on the fluid around her heart. As of yet we have not learned of the results. So keep Ms. Sydney Lew in your prayers. We are praying for 100% healing of her body. Monday, July 5, 2010.
