Capt Jim's Travel Blog: August 2014

https://captjimtravelblog.blogspot.com/2014_08_01_archive.html

Friday, August 29, 2014. Blog Update a short trip to Alaska and Yes Bay Lodge 8-29-2014. By now most everyone is aware I made a quick trip to Yes Bay Lodge to work a large group for a few days and also take some pictures for the Lodge and do some fishing for myself. I left Kalispell Montana on Tuesday the 19th of August and had a quick and painless flight - was actually standing at the Lodge by 10:30 in the morning Alaska time. Left Kalispell at 5:45 in the morning Montana time. Who could ask for more!

Sunday, April 26, 2015. A gathering of Friends - the Gallery Showing! Well the long anticipated Gallery Showing at Nine Muses was Friday evening and I could not be more happy with the results, the pictures came out fantastic and the crowd was unbelievable. I can't begin to thank my Barberton friends and family for the support they showed! Lots of traffic and lots of sales! It is very rewarding for me to share my experiences and art with my friends! The hanging - Pat Millhoff helped me hang the pictures!

Saturday, February 28, 2015. Blog Update - Winter activities and Spring Plans. February has been a busy month - the busiest month of the year in the RV Park, with numerous activities and plenty to keep me busy taking pics for the Park and updating the Park Blog. I have been remiss in updating my own blog. Of the tournament. So armed with my new lens I was able to maintain a distance from the subjects and shoot candid portraits without them even knowing they were being shot. It turned out to be a ...Thurs...

Off The Grid Living: Grand Canyon - Wednesday March 13th!

http://jim-off-the-grid.blogspot.com/2013/03/grand-canyon-wednesday-march-13th.html

Grand Canyon - Wednesday March 13th! Finally took the drive from Kingman over to Grand Canyon National Park the South Rim. It was about a 166 mile drive! I did manage a couple pictures so here we go! When I left, I decided to stop in Williams at the drive through animal park again to see if I could get some better pictures of the Canadian Lynx and I did, but that is for tomorrow! Of course that is just my biased opinion, but it is my blog, so tough! Stay tuned, more tomorrow! Capt Jim - "The Gypsy".

The trip so far in a slide show. Enjoy the pics - they are in the order taken. March 5th and 6th - Leaving Moab area. Before leaving the Moab area on Tuesday the 5th of March, I decided a late afternoon trip into Arches was a worthy effort. Spent the morning getting the trailer ready to travel and for some remote camping, so filled the water tank, emptied the waste tanks and got everything put away and ready for the ride towards Grand Junction Colorado. But here are a few shots from Arches National Park.

Road Trip with stop at Valley of Fire State Park. For those who really give a shit - the Ultrasound results were fantastic - no change since last year, increased blood flow and no sign of any further restrictions. So Doc says I am doing well, letter off to the USCG and they will be happy to know I shouldn't have any problems and be good until next years check again! So up early and awoke to a wonderful sunrise! Then on to the trail to the "Fire Wave"! Finally at the "Fire Wave". Capt Jim - "The Gypsy".

Vacation Update - Day 12 and 13 - Indian Petroglyphs and Zions. I decided what the hell and figured if we got stuck, we got stuck and since my truck is a 1997 with plenty of nicks and dings, how bad could it be? Little did I know. After we arrived at the trailhead, the short moderatly strenuous hike turned into a major climb down the 1.5 mile round trip had a 1600 foot drop and then climb back up, so I went about half way and Pat continued on down. Here are a few of the Petroglyphs she got to see! Vacati...

Book Final and Ready to Order! Two days ago I finally received all three copies of my latest book of my Winter Travels. The hardbound versions are better than the soft cover version, since the book is only 20 pages thick the soft cover is a little thin. I am working now on a larger (Thicker - more pages) version focusing specifically on the Red Rock area of Southern Utah, Arizona and Nevada. I hope to have it available later this summer. 6 Hours for nothing! Road Trip from Hell! Mans best laid plans get changed due to major weather system! I awoke yesterday bright and early with plans to drive from where I am staying in Oregon to have the hitch installed in the truck and pick up my 5th wheel in Tacoma. From where I am it is a 2.5 hour drive, so I left before it was light in rain and headed North. Then back down in Oregon - with today planned to wait until Monday and then head back up and get my goal accomplished. I find it amazing that I...
