Tricky Seams: Crafting for the creatively inept!: My excuse for not blogging.... Meet Derek!
http://trickyseams.blogspot.com/2011/12/my-excuse-for-not-blogging-meet-derek.html
Tuesday, 20 December 2011. My excuse for not blogging. Meet Derek! Derek is a Dr Who Dalek, just in case you don't recognise it, and he's been my most challenging knitting project to date! I didn't think I'd be able to do it because it involved a lot of techniques I've never done before such as I-cord and making bobbles but I managed it and he doesn't look too shabby! I knew it would be perfect! When I'm suitably recovered I might knit myself my own one, maybe a special pink dalek! Follow me by email.

Colette beignet skirt →. August 31, 2011 · 1:49 pm. V and A Horrockses Fabric. Did anyone else see the guardian’s article on Horrockses. It reminded me that I’ve been planning on buying some of the V& A’s reproduction horrockses fabric. For quite some time now. I’m a little bit in love with them:. I particularly like the blue striped daisy fabric – might have to be a sewing project for next spring. I’m thinking it might be cute made up in a dress like this one Gertie made a while back. Ss range has reign...

My first vintage pattern. September 15, 2011 · 3:53 pm. Sweat Shop pop up at Selfridges. I’m really excited to hear that Paris’s Sweat Shop has a pop up at Selfridges. For London Fashion Week. For those of you who haven’t heard of it, it’s a sewing cafe in Paris that works like an internet cafe i.e. you rent the machines by the hour. They also have classes and workshops. I’ve been wanting to go every since I read about it and now it has come to London, albeit briefly. Or been to the pop-up yet? Hi, I...

V and A Horrockses Fabric. My first vintage pattern →. September 15, 2011 · 3:13 pm. Here’s my poppy red Colette beignet skirt. I made this a couple of months ago. At first I was really happy with it, but having worn it to work one day I realised why the instructions suggest a heavy weight fabric – the fabric I used crumpled the minute I sat on it. There’s a reason using the wrong fabric is number 2 on Colette’s ten ways to ruin your sewing. What I like about it:. The fit – I made a size smaller th...

Archive for July 2010. My (tidy) sewing room! On: July 5, 2010. This bookshelf holds (most! Of my fabric. I have a tiny bit still stashed in the green suitcase under the window but shh, don’t tell Weng! Now that I finally tidied up my sewing room, I thought it a good time to ask Weng to take a few photos of it for me. It doesn’t stay in this state for very long, especially when I’m cutting out stuff! My padded out Dolly. One day soon I hope to be able to remove most of her padding. This lovely lady is Do...
