Carol Can't Write: December 2012
http://www.carolcantwrite.blogspot.com/2012_12_01_archive.html
Monday, December 3, 2012. A satisfying day introducing my "city girl" friend to the country and horses! I love guiding people through the early stages of working with horses and riding. You see the lights come on when they realize riding and being around horses is not just fun - it's deeply rewarding. And as I watched, I knew my young friend, so receptive to the teachings of her schoolmasters in the world of arts management, would one day be a brilliant and unflappable schoolmaster too.
Carol Can't Write: October 2012

Wednesday, October 31, 2012. After what felt like several days of prep, the arrival of Hurricane/Tropical Storm Sandy was non-eventful. On Friday I realized our new generator, kindly purchased by Bruce for my 55th birthday, required an electrician if we expected to run it. I found Felix, courtesy of Donna, and he graciously offered to work over the weekend. By Sunday night we had the generator working. We were ready for Sandy! Thursday, October 25, 2012. This week we say "good-bye" to our farm share....
Carol Can't Write: February 2014
http://www.carolcantwrite.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Thursday, February 27, 2014. Frances Gertrude Lamb, my Grandma Philips, was born on February 28, 1904 in Kansas City, Missouri. She never knew her dad - I believe he died in an accident before Frances was born - and she and her older brother were raised on her Grandfather's farm. Incidentally Grandma hated her name and much preferred "Mother," "Grandma" and "Mrs. Philips.". A copy of the marriage certificate was eventually retrieved from the appropriate state authorities.] There was always a sparkle ...
Carol Can't Write: Grandma B
http://www.carolcantwrite.blogspot.com/2014/02/grandma-b.html
Monday, February 17, 2014. February is the month we celebrate our US presidents, but, for me growing up, February was the month to celebrate my Grandmas' birthdays. Grandma B" or Isabel Van Deusen Bulkley, was born in Springfield, MA on February 17, 1901. She was the second youngest in a family of seven children. Today would be Grandma B's 113th birthday. I can smell her lavender perfume, see her sparkling blue eyes and hear the chuckle that accompanied her stories. I miss you Grandma B!
Carol Can't Write: Staying Centered on the Bridge
http://www.carolcantwrite.blogspot.com/2014/03/staying-centered-on-bridge.html
Friday, March 7, 2014. Staying Centered on the Bridge. This year the snowpack in the Sierras hit a many year low, worrying local farmers who will be impacted by water cuts and the Sierra residents, many who rely on the snow for their livelihoods. Local residents already fear the inevitable wildfires that will follow in the summer. Meanwhile, the rest of us are planning our home veggie plots to supplement what will undoubtedly be very expensive produce delivered from the Golden State. Provides $687M for d...

Carol Can't Write
Tuesday, March 25, 2014. It's hard to believe that I was ever afraid of horses. I was so comfortable around horses when I was young. Maybe the fear started at age 12 when I rode the huge Moose. Don't worry, he's tall but gentle. Our conversation went something like this:. Jenny's sketch of Doone. Jenny: "I've found a great place to take horses out for a hack - do you want to go with me next weekend? Carol: "Uh, why don't you check it out on your own? Jenny, determined: "Didn't you love horses as a kid?

Hiya Welcome to my blog page. I am a crafter and mosaic artist. I hope you find some joy reading my posts. All the best! Thursday, 11 December 2014. A bit about me! Let me tell you a bit about myself. I'm a self taught artist/crafter living Edinburgh with a lovely husband and two kitties! I've always had a love of making things. I was born in 1973 and grew up in the highlands of Scotland. Since I was a 'wee lassie' I was always cutting things out, making clothes for my care bears, (remember them? I think...

Sunday, February 24, 2008. I think I may have gotten back more than I gave- including a very sweet going away party on Tuesday night at a restaurant in Stellenbosch (wine country) called Moyo which included Jo-lene and her husband Patrick, 3 of the other volunteers at Sibanye (Marcy, Sallie, and Stephanie), and Brian and myself. It was a wonderful way to celebrate this crazy and wonderful couple of months. 1 - 1 1/2 hour long van rides to and from work every day. Thank you all for keeping up with this tr...
