Monday, July 21, 2014. Picking A Paint Colour: Style at Home Designer Secrets. Thank you to Style at Home. Finish samples for a clients kitchen (paint top right). The paint selections compliment the wood floor and cabinets, the marble backsplash and quartz countertop and stainless steel. All the upholstery fabrics chosen for the living room in this contemporary home were pulled from the colours in the stone fireplace. The travertine stone tile was also used in the entryway and a guest bathroom. Its a per...

Tuesday, December 16, 2014. Alterations: Seaport Holiday Shopping. Gingerbread display in shop window, Lunenburg, NS. Clearly you can tell. By the date of my last post, I'm a Designer not a blogger! I'm always get captivated by the holiday spirit and the natural beauty of the season. So although I have a back log of projects to post about I'm feeling more in a holiday mode than work mode right now and I can't resist sharing a little holiday spirit while I have the chance. Wednesday, June 25, 2014. My new website is up and running! As an extension to my previous "update" post, the past few months while I've been absent from the the blog one of the internal projects I was consumed with recently was getting a brand new version of my website launched, it finally. There are some new photos of old projects in the portfolio, one of my favorites is this detail shot of a clients kitchen (top photo) captured by Donna Griffith. Top Photo: Donna Griffith. The Styled Life: The lake houses that will make you leave the city...
http://thestyledlifeblog.blogspot.com/2012/10/the-lake-houses-that-will-make-you.html
Tuesday, October 23, 2012. The lake houses that will make you leave the city. I love the water, but that usually entails me not touching much muck (or any at all would be great) or the body of water being the aqua blue see through kind. But I would totally leave this concrete forest (I don't think Dallas qualifies as a jungle, yet) behind in a heartbeat for a lake houses like these. Umm yes. no TV, just a stack of books and lots of tea. Maybe even a garden to pick fresh veg for dinner? See what I mean?
The Upside Down Home: The Point
http://upsidedownhome.blogspot.com/2012/07/the-point.html
Tuesday, July 31, 2012. I need the beach in my life. While I live on the West Coast (well, an hour from the coast), I don’t get nearly enough beach time in. I also need the sun, and that is in short supply around here too. One of the few things that sustains me through our long, grey, wet winter is knowing that come the end of July, we head for Point Roberts. The view from our front windows - Conner playing with his friend. Liam on the beach in front of our place. See that little point of land south of T...
The Upside Down Home: August 2012
http://upsidedownhome.blogspot.com/2012_08_01_archive.html
Thursday, August 30, 2012. Wednesday, August 29, 2012. Usually it's the parent dragging the kid around to the museums but for us it was the other way round. Our trip was planned around the things that Kyle wanted to see and do in London. Ever since he was a little boy, he has loved reading about history - especially World War II history. So, no trip to London would be complete for Kyle without seeing HMS Belfast. Tuesday, August 28, 2012. I still have to catch up and post some last pictures of our trip t...
The Upside Down Home: September 2012
http://upsidedownhome.blogspot.com/2012_09_01_archive.html
Monday, September 17, 2012. I love September. We've had better weather this month than we had in July. It's been beautiful and sunny for days at a time with little rain. This week's forecast is sunny with temperatures in the high twenties. I can feel Fall coming, but it's not here quite yet. Monday, September 10, 2012. Practicing today with a 50mm f1.8 lens I have on loan. I like it. It's fun. These wooden crates were from the barn at my in-laws. Friday, September 7, 2012. When I wasn't looking at this:.

The Styled Life: Another Droolworthy Lake House
http://thestyledlifeblog.blogspot.com/2014/05/another-droolworthy-lake-house.html
Thursday, May 22, 2014. Another Droolworthy Lake House. Memorial Day Weekend means a large body of water, grill, a few cockies and having American Pride. An easy, breezy, calming palette melts all of your daily routine away, for a few days anyway. I love a good lake house, as previously shared here. A very serene color palette, with reclaimed wood to ground the look and keep it from being too beachy. I love the touch of the antlers. Such beautiful simplicity, and a great retreat for the eyes and soul.
The Upside Down Home: April 2012
http://upsidedownhome.blogspot.com/2012_04_01_archive.html
Saturday, April 7, 2012. I had such a great day today. The kids spent most of the day jumping on the trampoline when they weren't helping us clean up. Quinn was home after a long run of work, I went to yoga in the morning, did some cleaning around the house and finally put up some artwork downstairs. What a difference! I can’t believe how long it’s taken me to get around to deciding what to hang and where. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). View my complete profile.
The Upside Down Home: Cross Country
http://upsidedownhome.blogspot.com/2012/10/cross-country.html
Monday, October 15, 2012. Conner and Liam were on the grade four and five Cross Country teams at their school this past fall. Conner was very self-motivated to run on the team, Liam less so (but was persuaded when told that it was X Country or no Minecraft). Grade Four Boys' Race. Liam (2nd from right). This season we saw a lot of friends from church and were able to cheer on a lot of kids we know who go to other schools. Across the field at the start of the race,. I'm so proud of both of them for giving...

The Styled Life: Tiny Home with a BIG Wow
http://thestyledlifeblog.blogspot.com/2014/05/tiny-home-with-big-wow.html
Thursday, May 15, 2014. Tiny Home with a BIG Wow. Everyone knows that you don't have to have a palatial pad to have uber style- IKEA does an amazing job of proving to us all that. And sometimes I think its a little easier to design smaller spaces, because aside from the dinero aspect, tight spaces often dictate design for you. Take a look at this super cool 450sf Moscow home designed by ofdesign. That shows us that small can be big on style. An elevated "bedroom" give tons of underfloor storage. The inte...

The Styled Life: What a Pane
http://thestyledlifeblog.blogspot.com/2014/06/what-pane.html
Monday, June 9, 2014. I've been pretty obsessed with metal paned windows lately- not very energy efficient, I know, but I guess if you live in paradise, who cares. They pack quite a statement, so elegant and effortless looking. If I ruled the world, I'd swap out my courtyard windows for these bad boys in a heartbeat. Hanson General Contracting, Inc. Add a metal paned glass door and I don't think anything could be better. TATUM BROWN CUSTOM HOMES. The wood floor, paned glass, hex tiles, that sink! Ill be ...

Wednesday, September 23, 2015. E-Design Bathroom: From Concept to Sneak Peek. Lindsay contacted me through my e-design website. Before Plan - Master Suite. The initial space plans quickly determined it wasn't feasible to fit everything in this space that Lindsay had hoped. The top of the staircase landing is only 24" wide so accessing the ensuite from the landing side of the staircase was out of the question - this meant the only access for both the walk-in closet and. The ensuite was made a bit smaller ...
