Castles, Chateaux and Interesting Buildings: March 2012
http://www.castlesandchateaux.blogspot.com/2012_03_01_archive.html
Castles, Chateaux and Interesting Buildings. Monday, March 26, 2012. After a pleasant but unplanned four mile walk and an ice cream, I arrived at Barden Tower. Amongst earlier visitors were marauding Scots, though that was several hundred years ago. Those earlier visitors were probably responsible for the tower being further developed from its original function as hunting lodge, into a refuge for locals under the protection of the Clifford family in the 14. You don’t have to walk four miles to see ...

Castles, Chateaux and Interesting Buildings. Wednesday, February 29, 2012. With the help of my friend JohnnyWebFoot and my sponsor. I can give you a taste of the past in this video. I was particularly impressed by the workmanship of the hurdygurdy which I was able to view in close up earlier. Unfortunately I was not able to photograph it. All in all, an interesting visit. An on board view from the Citroen, can be found here. Tuesday, February 7, 2012. Several visits later, I finally entered the castle in...

Castles, Chateaux and Interesting Buildings. Thursday, December 1, 2011. Although having an almost lifelong interest in castles, it wasn’t until I visited Caerlaverock in late October 2011 that I was inspired to write about them and share a few images. It’s such a visually appealing edifice that one cannot help but be fascinated by it and its’ history. My photos can’t possibly do it justice so I would urge the reader to visit if ever the opportunity should arise. After passing through the entrance the fi...

Castles, Chateaux and Interesting Buildings. Wednesday, October 3, 2012. My companion’s espadrilles. Offered her little protection from the onslaught. The lighting within the narrow wall passages is better than dim but not by much, so those of a claustrophobic disposition may choose to get their pleasure from the exterior features. To enter the castle you must cross the water filled moat, sadly a feature lacking at so many other sites, though the wonderful Caerlaverock. Castle presents a fine example.

Castles, Chateaux and Interesting Buildings. Wednesday, May 23, 2012. A hasty correction saved the day, though it did little for my confidence for the remainder of the drive. On one occasion a medieval fayre was taking place, complete with banquet served at long tables in the square facing the chateau. The cooking methods were traditional, as you can see. Location: Rochechouart, France. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). Castle Features - A to B. The gateway defending the drawbridge. Parapet with indentations o...

Twice Daily With Food. This is a blog about tablets of the touch screen variety. Friday, 5 October 2012. I’ve owned a Kindle for a couple of years and I’m glad I bought then and not now. Firstly, I haven’t suffered the usual early adopter problem of drastic price cuts and I haven’t got the problem of navigating the stormy sea of Konfusion. A Brief History of Android - Part One. Android 1.0 and 1.1. Android was released in usable form in 2008 running on the T-Mobile G1. This was a powerful but bulky by today’s standards handset with a slide out keypad. The G1 was made by HTC but badged T-Mobile. Google Maps used the phone's GPS and Wi-Fi to pinpoint your location. Originally released with Android 3.0 honeycomb, an update to Android 4.0 Ice cream Sandwich was announced in February, which is most welcome.
