The Horseback Writer: November 2010
http://thehorsebackwriter.blogspot.com/2010_11_01_archive.html
Monday, November 8, 2010. REFLECTIONS ON HORSE POWER. I’ve got cars on the brain. Generally horses dominate that space, but as you can see from the previous post I’ve had my share of vehicle encounters these days. Update: After a thorough inspection we opted against buying the F350 described previously. My husband helpfully suggested a new arrangement for hauling my precious hairy cargo around. See above photo. Ugh Just say NO to ugly vans. We cleaned out the mold and a dead mouse then invested $600 buck...

The Horseback Writer: WHAT'S IN A NAME?
http://thehorsebackwriter.blogspot.com/2011/09/whats-in-name.html
Monday, September 5, 2011. WHAT'S IN A NAME? In 2007 I had the opportunity to visit Churchill Downs two weeks before the Kentucky Derby. In Louisville for a two-day writer’s conference, schedules were tight and I fought a bit of jetlag hangover. Still, there was no way I’d miss the chance to see The Downs, a place steeped in generations of equine glory. I thought, feeling the tears prickle. Maybe I’m just tired. The sight is one I’ll never forget. 8220;What’s up with that? 8221; I gestured to the eye.

Saturday, January 22, 2011. I FEEL YOUR @%*&*#! Is it just me or do normally sweet horses morph into a cranky Mr. Hyde alter ego in winter? I feel their pain, really I do; nothing can dampen spirits like the Pacific NW in January- dark, cold, and wet, wet, wet. Thinking a Costco "happy light" is in order- for me. My boys in the barn! One of the topics the work explores is the shared emotions of horses and humans. This begs the question, Do horses have emotions? And neuroscientist Jaak Panskeep. With that...

The Horseback Writer: October 2011
http://thehorsebackwriter.blogspot.com/2011_10_01_archive.html
Sunday, October 16, 2011. Recently I’ve been pondering the difference between trust and faith. Though similar (and each can be expressed as a noun or a verb), they aren't exactly the same. Trust is defined in Websters this way: firm belief in the reliability, truth, ability, or strength of someone or something. Faith is defined like this: confidant belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence. As we went deeper into the trees we frequently had to go off trail to go around sections that...

Friday, March 18, 2011. Yes I know this looks like a wholesome horsey scene, but it's going to get sleazy. Trust me. Describe your horse life BC and AC ("Before/After Children"), Jennifer:. After my first daughter was born I cut back to mainly lessons and a training horse from time to time, she just went everywhere with me. However, my second daughter required Mom's full attention!
