A chronicle of my model railroad layout construction project. Base for the yard is one layer of 7/16" OSB topped with ½" Homasote. A chronicle of my model railroad layout construction project. 9 A helix is born! And how would I make the end pieces (semi-circles) without wasting a lot of that high priced stuff? After a lot of internal deliberation (looking inside wallet), I decided to use 7/16 OSB because it was less than half the cost of 1/2" plywood and my research indicated it is as strong as plywood for what I will be using it for.
