Return to Skimo | Challenge of Balance

Mar 15, 2015. Oh yeah, and the Powderkeg is exactly one week after RUFA, where this year I ran up and down Grandeur Peak 6 times for a total of 20,000′ plus of ascent/descent. The Start of the Powderkeg Teams Race. In the end I finished in 13th place. Frankly, the result was better than expected and despite suffering pretty hard at points during the race, I had fun! CHALLENGE OF BALANCE - BLOG. Photo Credit: Fred Marmsater. Responsible in the Mountains. Jun 10, 2016. Several months ago social media outlets exploded in outrage about the passing of a runner during a race in South America. The reaction really bothered me. I spent a lot of time contemplating the accident and how it relates to the current state of ultrarunning. I wrote. Going South- Part 2. Apr 23, 2016. Going South- Part 1. Apr 3, 2016. Bleary Eyed in Hong Kong | Challenge of Balance

Bleary Eyed in Hong Kong. Feb 15, 2015. Neither of us slept too well that night. Martin had arrived just a few hours earlier from France and the jet leg had both of our bodies pretty confused. The next morning we walked a little over an hour into Sai Kung city to some exploring and shopping for some snacks. Martin eating Dragon eye’s and smiling even though we had just gotten ripped off by the streetside fruit stand. There is some really weird food in other countries. Like these…. After a very good night...

Apr 17, 2015. Paying the price of burning down the barn. The Diamond #9, last one of the day. 28 hours of adventure with Jared Campbell. 8221; me, “ugh not quite sure yet”,(awkward silence). After several of these conversations, and after a lot of thought, I decided that I really want to focus on adventure. Pure stoke for adventure. Jonathan Byers and I in the heart of Valle Hermoso, Patagonia, Chile. Fred Marmsater, me, and Krissly Moehl so happy to see the sun. Kunsleden, Sweden. Follow me on Instagram:.

Rocky Mountain Raider: May 2015
http://rockymountainraider.blogspot.com/2015_05_01_archive.html
Sunday, May 31, 2015. Well, that was a wet month! Went to the Flatirons Running event with Kara Goucher. She is obviously better and more used to taking photos then me. I had an English class with her at CU back in '95 - neither one of us could remember what it was other than the fact that we hated it. Got to meet and run with Meb Keflezighi also. Pretty cool. His shakeout run was at 7:20 pace. I could obviously crush him with my stature and girth, if I could catch him! Links to this post. That looks pre...

Rocky Mountain Raider: Lots Of Green
http://rockymountainraider.blogspot.com/2015/06/lots-of-green.html
Tuesday, June 23, 2015. Coming from a non-running background, this is perhaps the most consistent period of running I've ever done, so I'm hoping it pays off for my summer goals. I know they are pretty lofty, but you might as well aim high! Photos from some of the runs, peaks, and secret spots we are camping follow. Looking down Skywalker Couloir on S. Arapaho - a easy climb on the peak. This is the real Olympic Torch from the L.A. Games! June 25, 2015 at 9:43 AM. That is quite a chunk of vert man. 12/5/...

Back at the beginning of June, but am only getting around to writing a review now because I wanted to put enough miles on them to make sure my review was informed and honest. I don't run for them, and so my review is purely my own opinion – I get no kick-backs. Weight: 10 oz (depends on size). Sole: FriXion XT sticky rubber.

Rocky Mountain Raider: Tushar 93K Race
http://rockymountainraider.blogspot.com/2015/08/tushar-93k-race.html
Friday, August 7, 2015. Last Saturday, way out in the Tushar Mountains, was the Tushar 93K race. Part of the US Skyrunning Ultra series, this inaugural race came just 13 days after the Power of Four 50K in Aspen. After the Power of Four my quads had some pretty good DOMS, and I really didn't do much running. A couple days of rest and the DOMS wore off and I was able to run a couple good runs on the local hills. I felt fairly good about the upcoming race and was excited to get on the road. Rocky Mountain Raider: March 2015

Friday, March 20, 2015. Spring - Training Starts. Spring - Training Starts. So, to start it off, I did the M5 challenge today. I've done this before, and it is always a killer. Run (hike) up and down Mt. Morrison's southeast ridge 5 times for a total of around 10,000' and 20 miles. It went well, but I could certainly tell that I didn't have my climbing legs as I have done more road stuff over the winter. Long's Peak from the summit of Mt. Morrison. I got it from the magazine Like the Wind. I had a good f...

Ski Run. Climb. Repeat. Monday, July 27, 2015. Speedgoat 50k race report. With 11,800 vert of climbing, Speedgoat is undoubtedly one of the toughest 50k races in the country (multiple races make this claim). Therefore a number of people thought I was crazy/stupid/etc. to do it as my first 50k. Regardless, I did, with it serving as a terminus of sorts of my 9 weeks in Utah this summer. As my first 50k (and 2. Running race ever), I went in with moderate expectations:. Finish sub 8 hours. Stretch of rough, ...

Ski Run. Climb. Repeat. Saturday, August 8, 2015. Wind River Climbing Part II. We spent the afternoon of our rest day relaxing at our new camp below haystack mountain, watching a party “epic” on minor dihedral (way off route), which we planned to climbed the next day (III 5.9 10p). Luckily we got some good beta from a different party in the area about the proper route-finding and went to bed nervous yet excited. Starting up pitch 1. Stoked for the money pitch. Pitch 5 (photo: chris). Fun exposed pitch 2.

The Challenge of 2010 | Living Out Loud!
The Challenge of 2010. What Happened to the Blog. July 7, 2010 by changethewayyouthink. At the end of May I decided to end my Challenge of 2010 (I did do new things through May… I just went on vacation and forgot to write them down before I took off). It wasn’t because it was too hard. It actually was a lot easier in the last couple months. Once you get in the habit of doing new things, it starts to come naturally! Since I stopped blogging, I’ve still been keeping things fresh!
