Charles W. Howard. In the 4th Grade at Loveland School, Charlie was selected to play Santa in the school play. His Mother made the Santa Suit for him and he wore a false face Santa mask. Charlie started playing Santa for his Methodist Church, and then asked to play Santa for a local furniture store. Later he played Santa in Department Stores in Albion Rochester and Buffalo. Always active in community affairs Charlie gained early fame in his efforts to produce the World's Largest Apple Pie at the Orleans County Fair in 1929.
