The Raggedy Garden: March 2014

I want that beautiful box to stay on the bureau for many more years. When the others leave the room, I stay there, again staring at the box and remembering. Did she somehow know about those times I just stood there, my ironing done, admiring the fancy beautiful box? A Thing of Beauty is a Joy Forever. Links to this post. Subscribe to: Posts (Atom). The Raggedy Garden: December 2013
http://theraggedygarden.blogspot.com/2013_12_01_archive.html
Tuesday, December 24, 2013. A long time ago. Time before. Time that we can't really know about. We can hear it. We can read it. We can think on it. Can we really know? She must not think about it. It would do no good to cry. She had lost one of her mittens. She couldn't think how she had been so careless. So careless as to lose your mitten! She didn't know that they she only reminded them that one small twist of fate would make them the same way. No one wants to think about that. Links to this post.

The Raggedy Garden: June 2014

Monday, June 9, 2014. A Stone For All The Soldiers. The real Wall, in Washington, D.C. is of course, more imposing. Larger. Stiffer. A Capital City monument. Still and quiet, you feel the grandeur and the heaviness of its meaning. The people come to see it. They walk away, down that long black wall, holding hands as though they were young lovers again. A church steeple stands shadowy in the back ground. The bell rings from the bell tower. Deep and solemn, it strikes the hour. Our heart felt thanks. A Sto...

Sunday, October 27, 2013. Notes From The Woodpile. Eventually they were saavy enough to be able to work the wood pile by themselves. Now they have sons who also come over sometimes and work the wood pile. It is a beautiful thing, to see the knowledge passing on to the generations. All Fords, of course. He remembers the old tractors, the old saws, the old Model A sawrig. They are all there with him, now. Now when he sits in the sun and looks at his wood piles. Links to this post. Stuff And Nonsense: October 2014
http://thotfulpooh.blogspot.com/2014_10_01_archive.html
Just so you know. Some of my stuff is stuff, and some of my stuff is nonsense. But you must always remember that some of the stuff I think of as stuff, and some of the stuff that I think of as nonsense, you might actually think is nonsense or stuff respectively. As long as you keep this in mind while you're reading you'll be good. Saturday, October 25, 2014. Carry Us With Grace. Why is it that when you try to tell people what NOT to say in certain situations, you get blasted for it? We're supposed to jus...

The Raggedy Garden: January 2015
http://theraggedygarden.blogspot.com/2015_01_01_archive.html
Thursday, January 8, 2015. The Places I've Been! A year of riding around New England. Oh! The places I've been, and the things I have seen! And I know I've only touched the edges, and the bits and pieces. There's still a whole new world out there to go riding around in! Starting here. Here at the sugar house, here in the Raggedy Garden, here where I hang my hat. Here where my heart is. Covered bridges. Some still in use. Some only for walking across. Between the Mountains Road. Some names are too del...

The Raggedy Garden: February 2014
http://theraggedygarden.blogspot.com/2014_02_01_archive.html
Tuesday, February 4, 2014. I WIsh I Would Have Asked You. Then there were no letters for awhile. Not from the end of July until September. Then a letter comes from the hospital in Stambaugh, Michigan, where his father and his brother, Don, are recuperating. Strangely, he does not mention any thing about that sad time. Any thing about the funeral, or the sadness, or anything about his feelings. December 21st. " All this week we have been processing and packing our equipment in preparation for the boat...

The Raggedy Garden: July 2014
http://theraggedygarden.blogspot.com/2014_07_01_archive.html
Wednesday, July 30, 2014. Of Long Ago and Far Away. The day was hot, and humid, and as dusk fell, I walked down to the river. The water was fast and cold and milky , coming tumbling down from the snowy mountains. I stayed in the shadows of the bridge. Sitting on a rock. Feeling the cool dampness of the river swirl around me. I sat for a long time there, in the star light. Cool and unafraid. Strangely lighthearted. Ready to go to the grown up world. Knowing I would be sure and free to be me. I doesn't mat...

The Raggedy Garden: May 2014
http://theraggedygarden.blogspot.com/2014_05_01_archive.html
Thursday, May 22, 2014. After the Long Winter. Though it's the middle of May spring has been a long time coming. I saw, so, that beauty is still here. The Raggedy Garden lies soft and faded and lovely. Perhaps it is now that I love it best. Pear blossoms on the edge of the hill. A dandelion ready to be wished upon. A perfect sea shell, collecting the spring rain. The bird on the sun dial. Faithful and true. White hat. White ribbon. White rose. Garden décor. Lovely old favorites for my kind of dirt work.
