A husband, father, poet, and teacher going on and on and on . . . . A pre-schooler on the potty pretending to be singing in church:. I hear the glory, the glory, the glory; I hear the glory searching for a snack. 8220;Overheard While Swiffering”. 22 May 2009 at 9:29 am. Well, there you go. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. The Wingèd Man’s Faith Journey, Part I. | The Winged Man
https://thewingedman.wordpress.com/2007/01/11/the-winged-mans-faith-journey-part-i
A husband, father, poet, and teacher going on and on and on . . . . The Wingèd Man’s Faith Journey, Part I. Answering a request by Nelson. I’ve decided to write a little bit about how I arrived at the current form and expression of my faith. This will be part 1 of . . . probably four or five. I was brought up in a Cuban-American household of average devotion. My mom would take me to Mass occasionally when I was a little boy. Right at Communion, she would usually scoop me up and lead me to the car. As I r...

Reflections on the Road, Part II | The Winged Man
https://thewingedman.wordpress.com/2009/10/12/reflections-on-the-road-part-ii
A husband, father, poet, and teacher going on and on and on . . . . Reflections on the Road, Part II. Before my Intro to the Study of Religion class this afternoon, my classmate Adrienne mentioned that the MDiv students were all writing a chapter from their spiritual autobiographies. I told her that I was doing a bit of the same . . . . As I said in my last installment. 8221; Or, to ask the tri-partite questions of obedience “What do. What do others need? Easier said than done. I would really like so...

Reflections on the Road, Part I | The Winged Man
https://thewingedman.wordpress.com/2009/10/07/reflections-on-the-road-part-i
A husband, father, poet, and teacher going on and on and on . . . . Reflections on the Road, Part I. So as some you know, I’ve started at the University of Chicago Divinity School in the last few weeks. It’s gone well, but one thing that’s struck me is the unbelievability of it. Have you ever gotten to a point, looked around, and wondered, “How did I get. I’ve been wondering a bit about how I ended up in Divinity School, something that I would have never imagined six or seven years ago. A Guide to the Di...

Further Thoughts on a Rule of Life and the Little Way | The Winged Man
https://thewingedman.wordpress.com/2009/05/14/further-thoughts-on-a-rule-of-life-and-the-little-way
A husband, father, poet, and teacher going on and on and on . . . . Further Thoughts on a Rule of Life and the Little Way. It is in the Little Way that all ways converge. It is not in the big things: rituals performed, ceremonies adhered to, knowledge acquired. The Little Way is the way we treat all the little things, especially time, the littlest thing. Who can see it? I granted him forgiveness immediately, and I commended him for his honesty and maturity. Leave a Reply Cancel reply. About The Wingèd Man.

Red Heeler Ranch: December 2009
http://redheelerranch.blogspot.com/2009_12_01_archive.html
A mythical destination deep in the heart of Texas, where dreamers dream big and cattle dogs run free. Wednesday, December 30, 2009. Many hugs and condolences to Kievas Fargo. On the loss of their beautiful dog Fenway, who fought cancer for over a year. Kievas has posted some wonderful photos of Fenway and Little Sprout, growing up together. Blessings on Fenway's humans, and I trust that Fenway is running free with our other dear ones at the Bridge today. Saturday, December 26, 2009. 4 Shopping till I dro...

Reading Greek Again for the First Time | The Winged Man
https://thewingedman.wordpress.com/2009/05/09/reading-greek-again-for-the-first-time
A husband, father, poet, and teacher going on and on and on . . . . Reading Greek Again for the First Time. Lately, as I’ve mentioned earlier, I’ve been reading Greek regularly for the first time in a long time. I decided to start with the Gospel of Mark, since his Greek is “bad,” which is to say “easy,” since it doesn’t seem to be his first or most comfortable language. But maybe that’s just me. Lenten Thoughts: Monday, Third Week of Lent, ’07 (A Stealth Installment of the Wingèd Man’s Faith Journey) | The Winged Man

A husband, father, poet, and teacher going on and on and on . . . . Lenten Thoughts: Monday, Third Week of Lent, ’07 (A Stealth Installment of the Wingèd Man’s Faith Journey). Today is a busy day, and I was tempted to not post at all or post simply that I wasn’t going to post, that I wasn’t able to post. This is my first Lent where keeping my disciplines has been truly difficult. Although I fasted the six days I had originally planned Ash Wednesday, that Friday, and the following two Wednesdays and t...

The Wingèd Man’s Faith Journey, Part IV | The Winged Man
https://thewingedman.wordpress.com/2007/01/25/the-winged-mans-faith-journey-part-iv
A husband, father, poet, and teacher going on and on and on . . . . The Wingèd Man’s Faith Journey, Part IV. I’m not sure when this part of the faith journey began. Did it begin with starting graduate school? Perhaps; I started drinking a little less and was significantly happier than I was in the past. Did it begin with meeting the woman who eventually became my wife? Perhaps; after this, I drank even less and was even happier. Then I read Gilead. By Marilynne Robinson. Gilead. How could this be? I wasn...
