How I wish that somewhere there existed an island for those who are wish and of goodwill. Albert Einstein. It's become apparent to me that most of the vacationers and summer people here on Martha's Vineyard have ADHD or some form of it. Drivers don't look where they are going and run into bicyclists, boaters speed through the no wake harbor just missing the sailors, and each time I go in for a refill of my medication, the pharmacy is out. The 4th of July Weekend Flourishes on Martha's Vineyard. The Edgartown parade was full of antique fire engines, miniature horses and plenty of children clamoring for candy and sparkly necklaces like the kind that are thrown during Mardi Gras. Picnics and people lined the parade route, which is a long-standing tradition. It is America at it's best. Charming. Adorable. Fun. You only live once but if you work it right once is enough. This is how I found the Edgartown Harbor when I arrived here on April 30, 2013. Less than ten boats were moored, it was chilly enough for a jacket and the water was like ice. My golden retriever wouldn't even get her feet wet. Tuesday when I woke up at 4:30 to make sure the bathroom was still there, I smelled fog. Sure enough, when I opened the cottage door, the fog was so thick that I couldn't see my flower pots less than five feet away. I've been waiting all summer for a fog this thick. By the time I grabbed by camera and began my walk to the harbor, it was lifting. But it was breathtaking. Still waters run deep. Tall beauties. Sweeter! Gone are the dog days of summer. Summer's sun has given way to autumn. The days are noticeably shorter, soon it will be dark by 4:30 pm. With the changing of the weather comes the return of the Vineyard to its local frame of mind. Year-rounders are whistling. Dogs are once again allowed on the beaches. Yellow school buses slow down traffic. Hiking is at it's best. I pay tribute now to the best of summer and the makings of a really great fall. A glorious night under the big tent. Dancing the night away.

Wednesday, April 4, 2012. It has been quite some time since my last blog post. so I decided that, instead of cleaning my room on my day off, I'll just sit on my bum and write a blog. Ultra productive, I KNOW! Hahaha. Anyways. here is what has been happening in my life. Timeline sequence. :). Failed to surprise Grandma and Grandpa at their 50th wedding anniversary. BUT got to go anyway and I had a glorious time. Love them dearly. WENT to Canada and made the best friendship ever with MACKENZIE FLEMING!
