Author: Dr. Kristy Leissle. A month and more of chocolate. April 1, 2016. Somehow, even though Valentine’s Day is just one chocolate-focused day in the year, the number of “chocolate engagements” (so to speak) around that holiday seems to reproduce and multiply to fill a whole month or more. This year was no exception, and I spent February and indeed March very busy with chocolate. Everything was a highlight! My dear friend and chocolate colleague, Bill Fredericks, also known as Chocolate Man. My event, ...

Discover the World of Artisan Beef. Psst, it's not about the marbling. Saturday, April 18, 2009. Congratulations, Tracy Smaciarz. A lot of us are coming to appreciate the artistry of talented livestock farmers and ranchers. Long part of the mythology of the American West and representative of quiet masculinity, the cowboy is by and large to be admired and emulated where possible. Is a more recent discovery for me. He is neither a cowboy nor a rancher. Instead, he is an artisan butcher. Who I can include ...

Eat, Love and Travel. And always hungry for more. Tuesday, March 30, 2010. She's as sweet as tupelo honey". I'm almost at the end of a food photography class I've been taking on line. It's from Perfect Picture School of Photography. I figured my favorite store-Metropolitan Market - would be able to help me. And of course they didn't disappoint. On their shelf I found a beautiful Tupelo honeycomb from Savannah Bee Company. You can take all the tea in China. Put it in a big brown bag for me. Thank you Sond...

A Different Kind of Wine Bar. Saturday, August 18, 2007. After going so big on Wednesday night at Canlis. Bell and I wanted to pace down and have one glass of wine with a light dinner. We headed over to a new spot in Belltown called The Local Vine. Be warned: wines by the glass are not cheap - look for $12-15 minimums. However, every wine they pour is both generous and more importantly excellent. A nice addition to a solid list of wines is the food, which is made by the owners/chefs of Crush. Another not...

Bar Launch: jcoco arabica cherry espresso | ChocoBlog
https://docofchoc.wordpress.com/2016/02/06/bar-launch-jcoco-arabica-cherry-espresso/comment-page-1
Bar Launch: jcoco arabica cherry espresso. February 6, 2016. I had the pleasure on Thursday evening of attending what I realized afterwards was my first ever official bar launch. Though I’ve been studying and working in chocolate for much more than a decade, I’d never been to a new chocolate launch before. And if there are more in my future, the jcoco arabica cherry espresso. Launch certainly set a high standard for taste and elegance. Bar is an extremely close second. Explained it quite nicely, and I’ll...
