January 2, 2011. 1 Taste of Thailand (Mpls. and St. Paul) super crispy, amazing flavor, not heavy. 2 Shuang Cheng Restaurant (Dinkytown) a straight-up old school eggroll served piping hot with a delicious dipping sauce. 3 Quang Vietnamese pork and vegetable eggroll. 4 The Lotus similar to Taste of Thailand, but a little heartier. 5 Thom Pham’s Wondrous Azian Kitchen/Thanh Do delicious ground pork, bean thread noodles and a thick, crispy wrapper. 6 Hong Kong Noodle crispy, good flavor and served in a boat.

This beignet recipe makes beignets like we had in New Orleans. 1 TBS or 1 package active dry yeast. 1 1/2 C warm water (approx 105° to 115° F). 1/2 C granulated sugar. 2 eggs, beaten. 1 C (8 oz) evaporated milk. 7 cups unbleached flour. 1/4 cup shortening, softened. Oil for deep frying. Powdered sugar - we use a significant amount of this. Dough can be frozen or refrigerated. It keeps a couple of days before the yeast is spent. Food for a bunch.
